re: Rupees per BHP! Cars with most bang for the buck

A simple observation here is that, obviously, locally made cars will have the lowest price/bhp ratio because of the way our tax regime is skewed. Any import will cost more. What's interesting, though, is the sometimes large differences between similar cars in the same segment! Keep posting guys!

E92 BMW M3: 75 lakhs, 414bhp, Rs. 18,116/bhp (this was before the latest round of customs duty hikes, dunno about today, sorry).

re: Rupees per BHP! Cars with most bang for the buck

My 2011 Laura TSI, EX showroom price in 2011 = 13.00 L
160 Bhp
Rs./ Bhp = 8,125

Recenty remapped to 200 Bhp for Rs. 46K
Cost per bhp for the extra 40 Bhp = 1,150

Now that's the cheapest 40 Bhp money can buy

So currently is the Alto K10 the most BHP/rupee car going by current prices? Ex showroom it comes to less than 4800/bhp. Any other car with lesser figures, taking CURRENT offerings at current price?

(I think this is the lowest it can get.)

Yes audioholic, the Nano is the lowest on the thread so far, as posted by GrammarNazi earlier

Actually my point was more to do with the lower power figures we see nowadays in small cars due to the excise benefits of smaller engines

Apart from that, the cheaper cars will have lower price/bhp ratio as price is not directly related to bhp figures.Even if a Lamborghini was to be made locally,to achieve the price/bhp ratio of the Nano it would need to have around 3500bhp.

Indeed it is.

Ford's pedigree, driver-oriented tradition, an award-winning engine, most-modern design and safety features...anyone who is the market looking for premium hatch should seriously consider this cute SUV.

Regarding my post on the Punto I made a mistake by dividing the price with 74BHP instead of the actual 76 BHP. 700,607 / 76 = 9218.51.

Not a very big difference, given that the price is Mumbai ex. showroom and I am living near Trivandrum. It is still

@KPZen, IMO you should have added the price of the Pete's also to the car's ex.showroom price. If you can put the price/BHP with/without the Peter's share, that would be very interesting for the statistical buffs..
