Now the excitement is reaching its peak. The last week and still no pictures. Honda is setting the expectations rising. I hope the end product and the pricing match up to all this excitement. I don't think there has been any other model that has been launched with so much secrecy.

It is kind of unbelievable. My mind says that something is fishy (like Crider is the new city etc..) but my heart says Honda is going to surprise us all with an awesome product.

Couple of weeks back happened to see a Crider commercial on Youtube. Apart from the overdone headlamps, it ain't a bad car at all. In fact, atleast in the video, it looked very appealing.

Going by the "fluidic" design theme of Amaze, the Crider seems like a good candidate to replace the current City.

As per reports and Hormadzs tweet the new Honda City is going to be more evolutionary than revolutionary unlike their earlier models. Crider is more of a revolutionary design if we compare with the current city. Also Honda was supposed to launch the new city in Jan but old stock got cleared faster than expected which prompted them to launch it in November itself.
Lack of test mules indicate they are going to use the same tried and tested 1.5 VTEC and the same 1.5 iDTEC (VGT)

Typically, City in India has followed other markets. If Honda is unveiling it in India this time, it would be like a world premiere ( or Asia premiere). In that case why not do it at an event like Auto Expo? Its just a month and a half away.

According to the tweet by Horamzd soraabjee, old City stocks exhausted and Honda would not like to see prospective customers going for Verna/Fiesta etc by that time!

IMO it's right time to unveil the new City. Let's see what's in store for us!

Somehow things are fishy. If this is a global premere, here are the questions running through my mind:
1. If its a new car altogether, where is the testing?
2. If they want to showcase the car and then start testing (like Datsun Go), why on earth are they doing it after exhausting their old stock? Will they be able to test and release in a week?
3. Lastly, if they are going to launch an existing car, how is it an evolution?

My two cents, Honda might do one of the following:
A. Launch the new Jazz with a boot, or
B. Launch the existing ANHC with the Jazz grill. Then launch the real new HC in USA (or wherever) and have the actual look. That would be exactly what Skoda did with the Rapid

Really unbelievable that Honda has kept the car hidden all this while. This must be a world first! I mean every car that i can think of has been spied well before its launch.

As someone has already mentioned, the most likely thing is that Honda is launching a simple booted version of the Jazz and not re-skining the body like the current Honda City. The previous Gen City (NHC) too was a simple booted version of the previous generation Jazz. The simple booted version would probably not require a lot of testing in real world conditions as the non booted car has been through the grind.

Having said all that... i just found these online. The front side on this spied car looks like it could fit the 'SOLID WING' Face that will debut on the new City. I am attaching the solid wing design grill for reference.

Honda is definitely the master of keeping secrets! I mean, they might have a testing facility and thus no real world testing could have happened outside the factory premises, maybe! But how did they manage to get the ARAI homologation and certification done without being caught anywhere? No car in India can escape being caught by the lens at Pune. Really amazing work!

And I seriously hope that the spy shots from two posts above is the 2014 City! it looks ravishing. But then, that design is revolutionary! New City has gotta be more like Swift 2007 -> Swift 2014 type upgrade to be termed evolutionary.
