hi deetjohn, thanks for the exclusives!. Although theres nothing awesome about the looks this design is an evolution of the current i20 and theres no doubt it will attract a lot of buyers. This along with the high equipment levels will ensure that this Hyundai will be a winner.

Well, a little perplexed to know many prefer the previous design! I've never been a fan of fluidic designs, and they get boring with time. Personally, European designs with straight understated lines have always been much more appealing. I really like the overall profile of the new i20, and if the spy shots of the interiors are anything to go by, it has all the makings to be the segment leader. However, my biggest concern is the driving dynamics. Having received a lot of flak for its ultra soft wobbly suspensions, and pathetic ride/handling combo - I seriously wish Hyundai takes a giant leap in this aspect with the new i20.

Well the C-Pillar appears to be quite thick. Ain't that going to create some blind-spots?

This design will certainly create a great debate. The front indeed looks very Kia'ish, or Datsun Go'ish or Punto'ish for sure. As the trend started with Gi10 to tone down the fluidic curves is pretty evident here too. But the back is certainly more appealing than the front. The rear is extremely sporty but the front is pretty unexciting. Also, the straight hatch door instead of the curved one looks drab to me on an otherwise excellently designed rear.

What we saw from the interior scoops earlier clearly shows the ICE unit from Grand with a lot of other buttons arranged all around and a climate control. So, you can expect the same weak speakers at the rear doors as well. The AC vents were also seemed to be lifted from the existing one.

If we are to see the same 1.2l engine once more in this new version as well then this is certainly going to be a let downer for many. And I suppose the price will be higher than the existing version as well. So, why would customers pay more when they will have the same performance from the same engine? Especially when there is Grand i10 sitting in the middle to cannibalize its own sibling. Hyundai will have to pull the new customers with the usual never ending feature list. Else, the heavily discounted 2nd gen Hyundai is a better deal solely from the price point IMHO.

Our highly trusted sources at Hyundai, related to the development of the new i20 has informed us that Hyundai will be officially launching the second generation Hyundai i20 codenamed IB on 11th August.

The production of the current i20 has been stopped and the Chennai plant will start dispatching the first lot of the new i20 on 2nd or 3rd August, expect the test drive cars to hit your nearest dealership by 5th to 6th August. Stay tuned to ICE for more exclusive updates on the upcoming i20.

This sounds a little unlikely, since the media drives are actually scheduled for more than a week later.

Maybe this source has confused "Official Launch" with "Official Unveil"? But then they did also mention about dispatches to dealerships a few days earlier too!

I don't know why but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the rear of the 2014 was the Mobilio!





Thank God they haven't got carried away with the Fluidic theme and have left the bonnet and sides clean rather subtle.

The front end sure seems to be a confused mix of lines/ slashes. IMHO it looks quite awkward in the scoop photos atleast. The side profile is clean and new-gen. The rear end somehow reminds me of the 2013 corolla hatch sold internationally. Overall a mixed bag interms of vehicle design. I'll reserve my comments till the media release comes out/ I get to see the car in flesh.

If the i10 Grand is anything to go by, I'm pretty sure the interiors would be of class leading quality. Another thing where I expect huge improvements would be in the driving dynamics department.

On a positive note though, Hyundai should be appreciated for regularly 'refreshing' their car designs regularly.

Looks good, but looks like a stretched grand i10. Seems to be the Next gen Hyundai fuidic family look. So all cars will again start looking same. Next we will have Verna, Elantra and Sonata also looking same

No confirmation on that. But so far, the spy pictures hint at all black interiors. The pic shown in ACI' article too had black interiors. I certainly hope that's the case.

I dont know but I somehow loved the previous version's frontal looks. The rear although looked better in this new version. The integrated tail light clusters nicely work their way into the boot. The blackened C-Pillar will have mixed opinions as well. Let us see how the interiors fare up.

That's a bad front and an equally unappealing rear end. As people have already pointed out, Its a mix of the Punto Evo swept back headlights and the Mobilio rear lights. Another car joins the not-to-buy list.

Nice pics. I just feel if the conservative indian crowd will accept the overly sporty tail lamps. They look a bit more sporty than expected in a mid range family hatch back. Else wise the front grill and the sides is elegant and has a decent poise.
