Re: Skoda India to discontinue Fabia

If the rumours are to be believed, there is an all new fabia coming in by 2016 and a total revised yeti around the same time too

Re: Skoda India to discontinue Fabia

Mine will be 7 years in Feb '16.
I kinda stopped going to Skoda for servicing and go to the local mechanics instead.
Luckily I have not needed any specific parts except my sun roof, which needs a new motor for which I MAY go to skoda,
but I dont use it much so I might just try a walk around suggested by my mechanic.
Its a nice little car, still hardly any rattles and still feels solid.

An Auto Yeti would be something I would be interested in, as long as
they dont go and make it a 7 seater MPV and keep it sanely priced.
I had hoped the previous facelift would have a DSG for the price but....

For a replacement next year I am Looking at the:
Polo (GT, GTI)
Ecosport AT
Duster AT
Yeti (If any AT)
If I can convince myself to spend the money, the Q3 & 118d look interesting too, but I doubt it.

Ill keep reading every review and rumor that comes up before I finally decide,
till then its the Fabia!

My Fabia has been giving weird problems off late. The front passenger door wouldn't lock upon using the central locking system or all other doors lock when this particular door is opened or closed. This has been there for close to 6months now, though it worked flawless when the car was at Skoda service. Looks to be either an electrical or a sensor problem.

Did anyone else face any similar issue?

Locking system has been fine with me. Looks like its an on & off kind of problem for you, which gets more difficult to debug.

Yeah I know. I'll have to get it checked before it gets worse. You never know what's ahead when the electricals go hay-wire.

Has never happened with me either , best to get it checked out before it becomes even more complicated

Re: Skoda India to discontinue Fabia

I more or less agree that we could be seeing the new Fabia on Indian Streets shortly, as i noticed a test mule in Pune last week. Could not capture it as i was busy maneuvering the traffic...

Did you observe this to happen either during heavy downpour or after a pressure wash ? Happened once and it was the moisture, probably in the key hole causing this. Not just the locks, the power windows were also acting up. Let it dry in the sun which took care of it.
Or get it professionally cleaned and dried - both doors.
Just saying, before they ask you to REPLACE stuff

I'm not sure if its the moisture, as it happens even at the mid of the day when the car is parked in sun

Well .. mine will also be 7 in December, so looks we are pretty close.
And I tend to agree with most of your insights:
- being gotten used to the engg here, I too kind of like Skoda and Yeti particularly looks enticing for upgrade down the line (except possibly the price it comes at :-<)
- I too am good to go for atleast a couple of years with a recent upgrade to Michelins, and this being very dependable on most safety standards.

How does that work out .. won't it be a problem if you run into any engine related issues where they look at servicing history?

How reproducible its been with you?
If frequency is not reducing then definitely a thing to be concerned about, such things keep playing at the back of your mind.
Does manually using the key to lock/unlock the car works as alternate?

Yeah, the key fob works just fine. It's the central locking that's busted.

Bro, Are you sure of What you saw was a Fabia and not some other mule? The reason I ask this is, there's no news of such a car( though it's not necessary to) on Indian roads, on the web. There's no info of any import too (checked Zauba)

Hope it's true and somebody gets to catch a glimpse of it.

I'd take the news with a pinch of salt unless I see a scoop of the mule as there's no mule imported and I doubt if Skoda would build a mule out of scratch for India, when the car is readily available in Europe (just like the Superb).

Will keep my eyes wide open for a news of the Scoop.
