What brand are they using? Is it a Bosch?

Thinking about changing my Accent's headlamps and fogs.
Also need to change the front bumper.
Any indicative price list? (Sorry couldn't find any here)

Hey all,

I have booked a Vento Highline and am quite looking forward to it:).

However ,I have always been warned by people saying that spare parts must be very expensive in comparison to other cars in it segment.
I now have the parts price list of same ,which seems okay to me.
However would want you all to comment on it of being reasonable or expensive:

Hi Terminator,

Price seems very much ok to me,Price is very similar to my Tata Indica spare part price list expect for front brake pads which looks little costlier IMO.

Bosch isn't that expensive - I just put Bosch wipers on my Swift a month back - I think it cost around 350Rs for the set.

What are you comparing against?

For a Swift Petrol, the airfilter costs around 200, I think. The Vento is 430.
Oil Filter for swift is less than 100, I think. Vento is 150.
Brake Pads are around 1000Rs, I think. Vento is 2500.

@terminator: I am surprised to see Vento spares are so cheap (for the segment).
Compared to Mitsubishi Cedia spares, these prices are very low.
Also, all accident parts are very cheap (as indicated from your list)
Headlight assy at 3733 is really good. For Cedia it is Rs 16000 (parts are made in Japan).
Lower arm Rs. 1690 compared to Rs. 4800 for Cedia.
I think even Honda City spares are more expensive than Vento.

Did the new weather strip that you changed have 2 rubber layers? I saw brand new innova in the showroom having 2 rubber strips joined together. The rubber strip in the body also has 2 layers. Guess this is to allow for better noise/air insulation. Mine is a 2009 GX model, but it has only one strip. So wanted to change them. At speeds > 120 I hear lots of hissing sound. And literally I cannot hear anything from my amp. I have to keep the volume at 40+ to hear something. Normally the volume is at 10-15 for normal driving.

Forgot to mention, the prices are one and the same at all Toyota dealerships. You may get them at lower rates if you are able to get these parts outside.

Hi Saravanan,
Apologies for the late reply. as far as I remember, it had only 1 layer. Will check and post a photograph.
The car had 1 major breakdown. Fuel pump failure at 67K kms and now at 75K, the water pump failed.

Paid 47K for the fuel pump and have been quoted 13750/- for water pump along with radiator flushing and filling with a new coolant. Id ont understand of how it fails at just 75K kms. Upkeeping costs are sometimes high for a 5+ year car. Not sure if the rates are ok, but need to shell out to keep the car in good condition.
Have proactively asked them to replace the drive belt too since scales have formed and they quoted 2450/- for the same. The vehicle is serviced at Lanson Motors, Chennai.

Rgds,

Just curious - did you always use plain diesel or did you use the one with additives (Turbojet / speed etc)

I use plain diesel and is driven only by me. No one else drives it. Did a check during the fuel pump failure and the pressure during the test was very high.

The same in the case of Water pump, it is leaking near the bearing and not near the seal, else Loctite would have saved me...

Not sure if I need to speak with Toyota and I do not have the contacts too..

Rgds,

Hey guys, I need new headlights for my Skoda Octavia vRS [MK1].
1> How much does official Skoda charge for them in India?
2> Can I source the Headlights from UK from Skoda itself and how much could that cost?
3> Does anyone know where I can get Depo headlights for my Skoda from?

Try superskoda.com from Czech Republic
They are quite good in price and delivery as well.

Here are the service costs till 1.6 Lakh kms and spare price costs for Toyota:

Etios/Liva Petrol
Altis Diesel
Fortuner
Innova Diesel

Etios and Liva diesel costa are same as Altis diesel so not included.

The prices for Vento are look reasonable. These should be more or less similar to Polo. Then how come the service costs are exorbitant? I read feedback from members for 1st service in the range of 8k to 12k. Am I missing something here.

@indian21r

1. VW uses full synthetic oil. I think it costs about Rs. 900 - 1000 per liter.
2. No free labor. (Other manufacturers give around three free services).

VW owners will be able to explain better.

Almost half of it (half of 8k) is for Oil. Volkswagen uses synthetic oil and about 4-4.5L goes in every time (costs about 950 per L).

Also the labor costs are exorbitant. Rest consumables are almost at par with others in segment.

Also you should understand that these costs are almost once a year (service interval is 15000KM or 1 year whatever is earlier). For Marutis/Hyundais service interval is 5000KM or 6 months (even as low as 3 months in case of Honda).

Normal service costs are around 8k only. Of course for gullible customers it can go up as the service centers can add useless costs like interior cleaning, vacuuming, tyres balancing etc. All those are optional and you can get done outside for fraction of what service centers will charge.
