Are you sure about the reasons behind Toyota's decision to stop selling Quails in Indian market? There were rumours suggesting that the engine had emission related drawbacks. I think our experts can clarify this.

I guess the economies of scale for Qualis were also down as it was closed in may countries and so the margins

so it was replaced with more cost effective and Global innova platform

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

The test drivers in a Mahindra S101 have managed to topple & crash the compact SUV somewhere in the Nilgiri ghats. Not much details are available, except few pics of the crashed SUV (courtesy Rushlane):

These same pictures were tweeted by Autocar also. One cannot make out the damages to the vehicle from the snaps. I hope this crash is not due to high GC.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

The report says that S101 was tested for rollover safety! If this is true it is commendable! Also there is minimum damage to the passenger shell as per the pics. Looks like one safe vehicle.

I seriously doubt that this was a rollover test. I can't imagine Mahindra doing such a test on public roads. I hope that was a joke, if not that's really bad reporting. The way the car has landed it looks like a genuine accident.

I believe its a tongue-in-cheek type comment .
A testing in which there is a possibility of injury to the driver/others and possibility of damage to other's vehicles/property should be done in a controlled environment and not on public roads. I am pretty sure M&M knows that.

This looks like an unfortunate accident.

Haven't heard of any manufacturers doing rollover test on public roads. This is an accident itself - some mistake by the driver. Usually for rollover tests they take high res videos from all angles, at high frame rates. Otherwise most of the data will be going useless - how the car behaves once the control is lost etc.

And since it's not a controlled environment, the driver's safety is not at all guaranteed - they don't even know where the car will end up, in the Ghats. They can't say it won't hurt others also.

And most of the people will be thinking it's a bad car once they see it in an accident. There's no educating them of 'testing', especially rollover and crash testing. It'll affect the 'image'.

I don't believe M&M will do a 'rollover test' in the Ghats. Someone just tried to save the 'image' by telling it's a rollover test.

I fear it could be because of M&M vehicles (ill) famed handling prowess. The problem only got accentuated because of the ghats IMO.

that the passenger shell intact from the front, but in case of a rollover, you cannot judge the robustness from one angle only, it needs to be viewed from all sides, & the chassis also needs closer inspection. Moreover, to what extent the occupants are injured needs to be studied to arrive at a conclusion.

From the pics, it seems that the accident happened some time earlier than the snaps being taken, as the test drivers are not around & the vehicle seemingly is covered. Probably some good smartian caught the vehicle in the ditch & the incident came to picture.

Coming to the comment:

I don't think so, like others have concurred, because such tests are not conducted in open environment, but in closed & controlled environments. Who would have been responsible for injuries to the testers, if there had been some big rock or branch of tree which could have impaled or other physical damages to occupants? IMO Rushlane poster needs to get over his/ her fanboyism to look through facts clearly.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I might be wrong but I believe a similar "accident" happened when the XUV was being tested. It was exactly in the same kind of area and the roll over had no impact on the car that time as well. If this is true then M&M had found an innovative way of testing their vehicle in live-situations as well.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

There's absolutely no way that this was a planned roll-over test.

More-so, Aditya and I were just looking at the pictures, and we both agree that it doesn't even look the the vehicle rolled over (perfectly intact ORVMs, no damage to the A-pillars or roof, no scratches on the doors). Maybe the roll-over part was just an assumption?

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

M&M should be SUED if they chose to do a Roll-Over test on Public Roads.
If this was not a test, then the reverse implication is that it still suffers from stability problems.
