Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Can we please rename this thread to Mahindra S101 hatchback or something similar? SUV / Mini SUV / Micro SUV are all misnomers going by how the vehicle looks.

The only positive out of this is that it looks better than the Quanto !
That's what we get when everything with 4 wheels (so far) on the road wants to join the SUV bandwagon.

+1. Looks like someone on the design/test team (if one was actually assigned to this contraption) spun the TUV alloys a bit too fast and bent the fins, then looked at his handiwork and went "Hmm, there's my design for the next launch".

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Today, I clicked attached pic at a signal in Pune. Could manage to click only one pic in hurry.
It was definitely a 5 seater with big SUV like front.
Not sure if this is S101 or any other car. If this is not S101 Mods/Experts could you please move this post to appropriate thread?

Looks like dealer despatch has already started. Any confirmed news about the launch date?

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I see 3 headrests in the backseat while the proportions don't substantiate this to be 5 seater car

And what happened to that bumper?

Wow. Nice scoop.
New car with temporary registration sticker starting with PB(Punjab).
That means dealer despatch has been started.
C'mon, teambhp-ians from Punjab or Chandigarh try to get some information about this car.

I like the front, looks butch. The alloys look great too. So do the tail lights.

But I think the small and narrow tyres spoil the stance. Mahindra is not known to equip their cars with think tyres!

Maybe, it's the lights but it reminds me a lot of the Toureg.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

That looks like a really awkward and oddly shaped hatch door with a very high lift height.

I quite like the bumper though. The vehicle is shaping up to be quite a quirky design from Mahindra. I hope they don't take it too far like they did with the XUV when it first launched.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Thanks. So what we have is a '5+1' seater (as the Indian Autos Blog article mentioned)? Wonder where the '+1' will be seated.

Also, the article mentions that these seem to be mid variants. However I noticed that car in the rear has blackened wheel caps + rear wiper; the one in the front has white wheel caps without a rear wiper. So, are these 2 different variants, base and mid? Is this the case, or are my eyes deceiving me? Eagle / hawk eyed members, please comment

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Mahindra S101 to Be Launched in January, 2016

Quote:
Although expected to compete with entry level hatchbacks, the upcoming Mahindra S101 is in fact a sub-4 metre, micro-SUV that has been built on a monocoque chassis platform. Based on the multiple spy shots being circulated around the internet, the interiors are likely to receive a piano black dashboard with chrome accents. Safety equipment should include airbags, ABS, EBD and ESP.

Engine options for the S101 are likely to include a newly mapped 1.2-litre petrol unit and a reworked version of Mahindra's mHawk Series-80 diesel mill that is currently on use in the Mahindra Quanto and Mahindra TUV300. The car may also be offered with a 5-speed AMT gearbox in addition to a manual transmission box. Reports suggest that Mahindra will name its new micro-SUV the XUV100 and that S101 is just a codename.

Mahindra S101 Engines: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre mHawk Series 80 diesel

Mahindra S101 Competition: Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Hyundai Eon, Renault Kwid

Mahindra S101 Pricing: 4 lakh - 6 lakh

If M&M has plonked the mHawk Series-80 diesel mill, with the state of tuning same as the TUV3OO (i.e. 84 bhp power and 230Nm torque), then this car will be a pocket rocket (assuming its kerb weight will be around the tonne mark). This engine pulls the heavier TUV3OO (kerb weight 1590 kilos) without any fuss, imagine the XUV1OO having a torque to weight ratio of 230Nm/ton (assuming 1000 kilos kerb weight), this will better the figure of even the mighty Vento, which tips the scale at 210 Nm/ton and this coming at half the price of Vento, way to go Mahindra
