That thick C pillar is a reversing nightmare and blindspots galore, unless the vehicle is equipped with reversing aids.

Motor Vikatan
I like the bottle shaped dummies.

Probably filled with sand or liquid. And weight can be adjusted to variation instead of different sized dummies.

Pretty neat.

Is that an Indian innovation or is it standard around the world?

Yes, looks like it is made in India.
The 'X' marked depression to hold the seatbelts are also nice

A head shaped cap would have completed it for me

It looks like it is being tested for the seat belt or seat belt warning sensor(basically a sensor which is kept under the seat that detects weight)

A big thank you to Jaspal Singh for posting these images on Team-BHP's Facebook page.

This is the S101, caught on test in Chennai. Don't miss the Beat-like rear door handles...

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I was thinking that probably we should edit the subject and remove the 'Mini-SUV' term
After having seen so many pictures of the S101, I wonder how it can be called as a Mini SUV.
Its like insulting the term SUV. Atleast the TUV with its boxy looks can be called as a scaled down SUV.
But looking at the shape and dimensions of this S101, its just a hatchback (a bigger one at that may be)
in the picture above, I can see a Ritz and an Indicab in front of the XUV1OO and it looks almost the same size!
If this can be called a Mini-SUV, Kwid can also be called one too I guess

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

That rear handle arrangement which I think was started by Alfa Romeo makes sense in a sporty four door but not really in a SUV. Unless they want to make it look like a 2 door SUV like the Gypsy.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Now the subject line should change to "All NEW Hatchback from Mahindra"

It looks like a grown up hatchback. Looks like 14" wheel.
Now a days even i20 comes with 16" wheel.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

This seems just a tad bit smaller than the Ecosport, since the photographer is in a sedan/low hatchback and the S101 is significantly taller and broader. Overall a lovely curvy compact hatchbackish-UV. Moreover, this looks like a basic variant, top end might/should run on 16" alloys at least 15" since the lower Vibe has 14". This design might just help Mahindra taste some success in the non-UV market!

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

This is going to be a big bummer for Mahindra, I mean the rear view looks like an autorickshaw to me :(.

Nor was the TUV300 good either in flesh, such a butchy front and skinny rear. It's like popeye's muscular bloated fore arms and thin, skinny biceps.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I just noticed a thing in these latest pics. We can see that this vehicle is a bit taller than a Ritz. And looks wider than an Indica. Could this translate to a very roomy vehicle? I think so. This could be a winner if priced competitively!!

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

If any one was wondering whether this can do Leh-Ladakh then the answer is yes because I recorded it doing so in a video

The actual video is just 5 seconds long but still if one does'nt want to see it then have a look at an enhanced screenshot from it:

Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted-3s101.jpg

The video was taken somewhere between Pang and Sarchu. Vehicle was going towards Leh on the Manali-Leh highway. Video shot in mid Sep-'15 and it isn't very clear because my GoPro was covered in dust.

The vehicles was very quiet and I could not hear the engine sound in my helmet nor did the camera capture it. Also may be because I was going uphill and test vehicles was going downhill.

Ground clearance seemed good enough for the general ladakh roads but the car is definitely a hatchback and I hope mahindra does not position it as any sort of SUV.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Caught testing again, this time by Motor Vikatan.

Check out those absolutely funky-looking alloys!

What is this? A bloated up Nano?

I seriously hope M&M does not categorize it as mini SUV.
The only positive out of this is that it looks better than the Quanto !

EDIT: those alloys do not gel well with the car (or vice versa, depending on what you liked better!)

EDIT 2: Maybe M&M should totally scrap their strategy on anything "mini" or small. They are best at making good looking rugged SUV's (with an exception of the Xylo) and they should stick to that.
Seeing them making "mini" SUV's and hatches is like watching Bret Lee/Shoaib Akhtar bowl Leg spinners. A total disaster.
