I'm a bit confused here. So the present engine is a high performance engine. Always thought it's the low performance merc derived engine.
Going by what you have written there will be two even lower performance engines. And I thought this was the rock bottom!!

The present engine is BS3 & low performance.

A same 2650 CC size engine would be offered which would be low performance.

A mid 2000 CC with mid performance would be offered.

A high 2200 CC with high performance would be offered.

It might be super off-road but it has to be half decent on the road. This is utter crap.
Anyone who wants to appreciate the work of any vehicle sold in India should first take a test drive of this vehicle. This is downright the biggest waste of Rs.8.75 Lakhs Ex-showroom that anyone would ever make!

I was a bit harsh above but today in this age and day, that vehicle is like making a fool of the customer and laughing at him too!

Thanks Pratheesh. Yes already have been receiving the brickbats on Facebook by the fanboys. Some of them highly regarded people who I now consider clinical psychopaths. But fact remains it is a bad vehicle and is out there for every one test and judge for themselves.
The owner of showroom locally had initially used the Gurkha as his daily drive. Even he has denounced it after a week of use and has booked a Scorpio 4wd. Haha. Speaks volumes!
