Re: Honda rumored to bring the 9th Gen Civic to India

A li'l birdie tweets that the new-gen 2013 Civic is undergoing extensive testing at Honda's Indian plant(s) these days.

- Honda Cars India might be mulling a mid/late-2014 launch.

- Drivetrains might be the 1.8L i-VTEC petrol and the 1.6L i-DTEC diesel.

- Price range unknown, although expect it in the 13L-18L segment (same as before), taking on the Elantra, Octavia, Jetta, et al.

Waiting for more details on this.

Honestly, I don't think the trend will continue for long. Based on inputs that subsidies on diesels will soon be removed, many of us bought petrol sedans around 6 years ago. Since then the gap between diesel and petrol has always been around 20 plus rupees. It is only in the past year that the government has dared to increase diesel prices, but despite that, the gap or 20 bucks remains.

Coming back to the main topic, I'd like to see the New Civic in flesh and blood before passing a judgement on its looks. As far as I remember, the older model of the Civic was one of the best-looking sedans in 2005.

It doesn't make sense to keep doing the same thing expect different results.

Either put a diesel in the USDM Civic sedan or convert the Euro Civic hatch into a sedan.

This is really good news. I was hoping that Honda would get the Civic back. Now I can sell my Civic and buy the new one in 2014 ( Although the 8th gen Civic looks much better).

Hope we get more info on this soon. Will still remain a rumour till we have a few sightings

I dont think there are any plans to bring back the Civic. Honda India has some blockbuster launches lined up for 2014/15.. New City, Jazz, Brio MPV and MiniSUV. These 4 cars will give them so much volume that they wont even bother wasting time on a low volume car like the Civic. Trust me, Honda will have more orders than it can handle in the next 2 years.
