True, likewise lets hope this engine also makes its way into the new corolla, if not the same engine but more powerful diesel for the upcoming corolla.
90 hp Diesel Altis doesnt stand a chance in front of likes of 150 hp Cruze, 140 hp Laura/Octavia/Jetta.
Also there is a chance the new Innova may get a new 2L diesel engine develops 124PS (122hp) at 6,000 rpm, and 310 Nm (228 lb-ft) of torque between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm.
Mated to a six-speed manual transmission
^ this config has been introduced in the
Latest RAV-4

I believe they have a 2L D4D in UK (good for 124bhp), available on Avenis, which can be used in he Corolla, as well as the Camry (obviously in higher state of tune). This is more modern & clean engine & capable of meeting stringent emission norms in future IMO.
Top-level Toyota sources have confirmed to IndianAutosBlog.com that the
2014 Toyota Corolla would be
showcased at the
2014 Auto Expo, to be held in Noida next
February.
Sources said that the new Corolla would only be showcased, as production would not commence at the Bidadi plant until much later.
The Corolla designated to India is the European version and it is very likely to retain the same 1.4L diesel engine that produces 88.4 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque, and the 1.8-liter Dual VVT-i that is married either to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission with 140 PS and 173 Nm. In the European Corolla, this engine delivers 138 hp and 173 Nm, and the outputs maybe held back a little in the interest of fuel efficiency.

Which version will get and which one do we prefer?
Left: Global Corolla, Right: US Corolla
would like to choose the option saying " None of the above". The current generation Altis looks so much more proportionate in its design. God knows why the Japanese are hell bent on introducing all this Quirkiness in every new facelift that they are introducing.
Between the two, I prefer the Euro version and this is the one that is probably being launched in India.
Having said that, the Etios like front grill will not win many fans. Wish Toyota had done away with that for something more refreshing.

Can we get the front from the US one and rear from the Global one? :p
I don't like shape of the taillight on the boot lid of the US one.
As per the sightings & confirmations at various auto portals, it will be the Euro version that we will get here. It's got a mini me (Camry) look. Moreover, the Euro spec has got slightly premium feel IMO as compared to US one (where it just another small car).
Toyota has unveiled the 2014 Corolla sedan at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show.
Based on the Furia Concept car, the 2014 Corolla will get two petrol engines - a 1.6-litre and a 1.8-litre. Both vehicles will be offered with a six-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
The new model has a longer wheelbase than the previous model, making it more spacious than ever.
The same model is also expected to come India by the next year. If media reports to believe, the company might showcase the new Corolla at the next year's Indian Auto Expo.

Launch of the Corolla 2014 to happen soon!
Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited will unveil the 2014 Corolla D-Segment sedan at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

The car will go on sale in India from the middle of the year, which is when the launch and price announcement will happen. The other new product to be unveiled alongside the Corolla will be the Etios Liva Cross hatchback.

There is no such thing as New Innova. I do not think Toyota India will have any such plans, the has no lack of innovation in terms of design or engine for almost a decade. It sells well, and Toyota will try to get the best out of their sales till someone really comes with a challenge. Honda, Nissan or anyone has nothing till date, so, No new Innova for many years from now.
^^ I can confirm that there is a new Innova, rather Innova replacement planned. It is not going to be a face-lift, but a entirely new model (Like from Qualis to Innova).
The model is expected to hit Indian market only by second half of 2016 though.

I like global Corolla 's front and local Corolla 's rear clap:
This colour, choice of alloys and particular front angle shot blew me away:

I was talking with a dealer (I am buying an altis cvt) and he told me:
- New corolla will be showcased in autoexpo
- Current altis' production is coming to an end, they expect only a few more vehicles to come to dealers
- Delivery of new corolla should start from May 2014
- Expect a 50K hike and zero discounts on new model (50K premium was probably his personal guess)
