Agreed, but let me put it this way. If you're queing up to buy a SX4, which one would you rather have? The hypothetical one which looks even remotely like the Authentics, or the incredibly oddball, misfit of a sedan that they call the SX4 in our country?

What I'm trying to say is, they could try and integrate some of the important design elements, like the sexy profile/proportions/stance of the Authentics into a smaller platform and then sell it in India as the Sx4 or better still, name it something else. That would see them take it head-on with stalwarts like the City and the Verna, at least in the looks department.

Yeah, I agree with you. Instead of starting from Swift and making cars higher up the segment look like Swift, they should go Hyundai way of bringing the design elements from their flagship products onto the fast selling models.

India is the only market where Suzuki has a better future(because of their past here) And they need to act fast to keep their market share and become more profitable.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

Maruti To Replace Slow Selling Models With Two New Cars.

The first offering will be a hatchback, codenamed YL7, which is likely to be launched at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The hatchback under works will be developed on the company’s small car platform and will replace the A-Star and Estilo eventually.

The new sedan will be based on the same platform as the SX4 and will be designed with styling elements derived from the Authentics concept, showcased at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show- expected May 2014.

Apart from the two fresh offerings, Maruti Suzuki is rumoured to launch a premium version of the WagonR (Stingray) in the coming months and a new compact SUV based on the XA Alpha concept early next year.

"The new LCV will get a new 2-cylinder 800cc diesel engine, and the vehicle is already in production cycle."

"four people close to the development said that the two-cylinder 800cc engine, which will be used in LCV and turbocharged variant for small cars are already in development phase. The company is also aiming to develop a whole new diesel engine family, which is expected to include a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine and 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine. If the new engine family gets approval from management, then it is expected that the new engines will complement the Fiat's 1.3-litre multijet."

Maruti A-Star and Ritz to be replaced by a single model

The report also says the replacement will arrive in 2014 with Thailand as the production base.

In addition, Suzuki is reportedly working on the mid-life facelift of the Swift which is expected this year, a roomier hatchback which will rival Nissan Note globally and a small crossover which will tuck under the newly launched SX4 crossover.

Earlier it was reported that A-Star and Estilo will be replaced by a single car. Now this? Hope this is the car Suzuki is developing, anyhow.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

Doesn't the side profile resembles the Swift?

I thought such Tail lamps went off-fashion in the early 70s!

Side profile is more on the lines of Ritz, look at the thick C pillar. Probably the Car would a restyled Ritz with a better posterior. Those tail lamps are meant to fill up the empty cavities of actual ones.

Most realistic rendering of 2015 Suzuki sub compact B-segment SUV that will be position below S-cross.

The Suzuki sub compact B-segment SUV is a similar design and get extend body for customer outside Japan which not have limit on tax benefit and need a bigger and more practical car.

Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?-2015suzukisubcompactbsegmentsuv.jpg

Suzuki will use shortened version of recent arrive,Suzuki SX4 S-cross, platform.expect to reduce wheelbase from 2600 mm to 2500 mm.The report say that the engine for European countries will carry 1.6 liter petrol and 1.6 liter diesel from S-cross.
Speculations are they will use smaller capacity engine of car in some developing countries to receive special tax benefit (India and Thailand). The 1.2 liter and 1.4 liter petrol is in consideration and currently 'under develop' 1.4 liter diesel may be included.

The length of the car will around 3999 mm and 1695 mm wide. The car is said to have more emotional design and more customize trim level than the S-cross.The car will in the same segment of Nissan Juke,Ford Ecosport,Renault Captur,Peugeot 2008.The car not only offer in ASEAN,China and India but will available in European countries.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

Where is that Sedan that is suppose to be in between Dzire and SX4 ? ACI reported it to be the late 2013 launch, but hardly any talks or test mule spotting so far.

Also no news about XA alpha. I dont think this will come before 2015 !!

Will we see new SX4 next year ?

Here is the link to the full SX4 -2013

http://www.autoevolution.com/cars/suzuki-sx4-2013.html.

But also there is an upcoming SX4 -2014. September International Launch

Quote:
Designed to compete with C-segment vehicles such as the new Nissan Qashqai, the Suzuki SX4 will arrive with two 1.6-liter engines, a petrol one rated at 120 HP and 156 Nm, and a Fiat-sourced diesel unit delivering 120 HP and 320 Nm of torque.

As far as fuel economy goes, the naturally-aspired petrol powerplant returns a combined cycle fuel consumption of 5.4 liters/100km when mated with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel provides 4.2 liters/100km when connected to a six-speed manual transmission and start-stop system.
