The earlier news was that Maruti's 800CC Diesel engine will debut in its mini lorry Y9T and then come to Celerio. Now, Celerio diesel comes first? Hopefully, the mini lorry project is delayed / shelved?

The Y9T now called 'Super Carry' will have a limited launch in its first phase. As seen in the plan, launch is in May 2015.

iM-4 coded as YJC could be launched in India in 2016.

iM 4 which is just 3,693mm long is likely to take on Mahindra & Mahindra's S101 compact UV, which will be launched later in the year.

The cross over will come with SHVS, a new mild Hybrid system, both of which are likely to be made available to Indian customers and it will further help Maruti Suzuki build its leadership on fuel efficiency. It integrates Suzuki's DNA in the field of developing compact 4x4's with the latest technology.

Maruti Eeco Diesel all set for launch very soon, will rival Mahindra's Supro diesel!

Quote:
Used as a last mile transporter, the people-mover could slowly replace the obsolete Omni model. In the light of this, a 792cc diesel engine equipped Eeco is expected to be launched very soon across all variants to appeal for more customers as per our sources. The same DDiS 125 two-cylinder mill found under the bonnet of Celerio and manufactured with 97% localisation could generate 47bhp at 3,500 rpm and 125Nm of torque at 2,000rpm.

Power will be sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The claimed mileage is supposed to be in the range between 26 and 28kmpl.

Maruti plans to strengthen mini-segment with another product addition.

Maruti Suzuki India is planning to introduce another model in the entry-level mini segment to strengthen its position given with increasing competition in the entry level segment.

I hope it to be the japanese alto to replace current alto. Also, hustler too, maruti...

The maruti hatchback lineup should be:
Japanese alto (800, 1000cc)
Wagon r
Hustler
Ignis
Swift
Baleno

Current alto, celerio and ritz need to be axed.

The Maruti-made mini "lorry", Super Carry is launched in South Africa!

I am glad if they don't launch it in India to tarnish the passenger car manufacturer image of Maruti. Maruti should have the Tata lesson in their mind - since the launch of Nano, Tata is associated with the "cheapest car manufacturer" tag, and lost the sales numbers and entire plot in India, IMO.

Maruti can meet the development cost by exporting to overseas markets, where they have nothing to lose!

Interestingly, it is powered by the 1.2L G-series Petrol engine used in Eeco (But why they are calling it GB14? It should be GB12).
Maruti, if you plan to introduce it, at least provide the factory-built hard-top body as well (as shown below).

Atleast, that provides some consolation to the eyes.

Suzuki Carry available in Japan (shown below) is much better in terms of looks, compared to the decade-old design of the India-made model.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

Details of next Gen Jimny trickles in. Can safely assume this will be in Suzuki's plan of bringing this to India.

Will be based on ladder- frame and 4X4 configuration.

Launch expected in 2018.
Quote:
a new car showcasing a different look but relying on a no-nonsense, mud-plugging cocktail of a ladder chassis and permanent four-wheel drive.
Under the bonnet will be Suzuki’s fuel-sipping 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine as recently revealed in the Swift, and a brand new 1.0-litre turbocharged ‘Boosterjet’ petrol. Suzuki hasn’t ruled out offering mild and full hybrid powertrains, either.
Jimny

Many here would be excited - but a permanent 4WD means a central differential, right? Not sure whether a mud-plugging ladder frame cocktail would include a central differential. Would push the cost up unnecessarily - considering that this would be directly appealing to the 4x4 enthusiasts and not the crossover crowd

Crude and cruel rendering based on the Ignis. Bigger wheels, longer hood and up-right C-pillar.

And the in-evitable tragedy happens! Maruti launches their mini lorry in India (in 3 cities only) at a price of 4L for the Diesel version. Named SuperCarry LCV.

This rendering looks a lot like the Yeti.
Frankly if Maruti were to offer a vehicle with all the possible bells and whistles - a sort of "cut price/ poor man's Yeti", I am 100% sure zillions of consumers will simply lap it up...
The Brezza, if possible, ought to allow for an upgrade by the Maruti engineers - a sort of "Super Brezza" with many more bells and whistles than it already has. That vehicle, being already a super seller in the mass segment because of the sheer value that it offers to consumers, will sell even more.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

Maruti Suzuki to focus on compact cars rather than minis in the future.

Maruti Suzuki's new launches like the Vitara Brezza and Baleno along with the Swift and Swift Dzire are preferred by the market and demand considerable waiting periods ( depending on the variant).
Quote:
The said compact segment constitutes of about 40% of the total passenger vehicle sales in India of which Maruti has a share of about 46.20%
Seeing the above the company aims to now dominate the compact segment while retaining is current hold on the entry level segment.

Quote:
The company also confirms that it will be launching a series of 15 new vehicles over the next four years which will not only include brand new models by also upgrades to its existing set of bestsellers. This does not mean that Maruti will completely neglect that mini segment. Cars which constitute the above mentioned segment will go through a complete change in terms of their body, technology and safety equipment.
