Not possible. It is a typo indeed.

R15 is 15 inch dia rims. So it has to be R16.

Anurag

Thanks for the clarification. But wouldn't 16" be a bit small for a crossover, and that too for a S Cross which already looks like a hatch?? Maruti needs a DESIRABLE vehicle, much like the Elantra or the XUV to crack the 10L+ segment.

IMO, the 16" setup would be decent enough and anything above would be overboard for that segment and hopefully Maruti does give the S-Cross the same looks and features as it was seen in the Auto Expo'14.

They need a good engine (powerful and efficient) and a funky looking car to crack the segment, just the EcoSport is.

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

As of now, I've decided that my upgrade will be to an S-Cross, but that will happen only after, may be, 5 years!

Reasons?

i) A semi-offroader
ii) Compact dimensions
iii) Big boot space
iv) Black interiors

Re: Maruti’s plans - Upgraded Swift, SX4 Crossover and an 800cc Diesel car?

When they can provide a projector setup in Stingray and upcoming Ciaz, why cant they do so in the S-Cross? I guess they are testing or customising a base version without the gadgetry and hence smaller tyres, normal reflector headlamps, and so on. Since this is an imported test vehicle, the headlamp assemblies etc are prototypes made for Lower end variants only.

Suzuki's Solio seen testing in India. Will Maruti bring this as competition to Datsun Go+ or Wagon R replacement? Speculated to add a 3rd row of seats- MPV

Maruti scraps plans to increase diesel engine production

India's largest selling car manufacturer - Maruti Suzuki has scrapped its plans of increasing its diesel engine production capacity at its Gurgaon plant owing to the diminishing demand for their diesel cars.

The company currently produces 1.5 lakh diesel engines at the Gurgaon plant and had earlier planned to double the production. However, now the company does not see investing additional Rs.1,000 crores as a financially viable option.

An automobile giant such as Maruti shying away from investing to manufacture diesel motors is an indication at the changing attitude of car manufacturers towards diesel vehicles in India. The monthly price hike of diesel is reducing the price gap between the cost of petrol and diesel, and diesel prices are expected to be completely de-regulated by December, 2014. The Indian car market is likely to change from being diesel centric to being more balanced after a long time.
