Re: Fiat's India strategy revealed. Abarth, Jeep, new Linea & Punto coming. More insi

Personally i didnt go gaga over the avventura except for its bells and whistles. Why would anyone take a hatch and spice it to be a small SUV kind of thing. Just for the heck of it !

Doesnt sound good !!

IMO Now that the Linea is available with the 1.4 T-Jet as the only petrol option, shouldn't Fiat carry that to the Punto as well. If they do want to offer a lower starting price for the Punto, probably the 1.2 N.A is fine but it is just seems to make more sense to offer the T-Jet on the higher variants rather than introduce a wannabe-ish SUV in the form of the Avventura. I wonder what the logic is behind these 'dressed up' hatchbacks, since its not like the Palio Adventure or the Fabia Scout or the Cross Polo were well accepted by India. So why not offer the Punto with the engine it is available elsewhere as well as in its elder sibling rather than invest in a niche product which is not of any significant relevance??

from Aditya's post it is evident that Fiat is yet to 'find' countries to export to which would possibly accept the Avventura. So why bother in the first place?? Punto T-Jet with similar equipment and the standard body, different rims and the car is set to be well accepted by atleast one type of niche rather than by none.

Spotted: This looks like the new Fiat Punto

Came across this car being tested in Pune a few days ago. From the styling, it looks like the new Fiat Punto.

Could not get a front view as I was in an auto

Indeed looks like the Punto but isn't it too similar to the outgoing model?

Doesn't the rear look exactly the same as the outgoing model? The rear lights, boot and bumper don't seem to have changed in dimensions and shape.
Anyone spot any difference?

The Lights are similar on the back. The main change in the new gen Punto is up front and the interior.

Any chance Fiat has a trick under its sleeve? A Punto T-Jet? That would also explain minimal camouflage.

Today while passing through the Fiat showroom in Prabhadevi, I saw alongwith the Linea T-jet and Avventura, a red Abarth on display.

Any plans of Abarth going on sale soon along with the Avventura?

There is a tear in camouflage. Is that a Reverse Camera tuck below the logo?

Cheers!

I guess that's the key hole for the boot opener. The main change to the rear are the new tail lamps, fog lamp and the reverse lamp.

+1 to that. It is the top-end 90HP model it seems, if you take into account the chrome-finish door handles.

Does that mean, still Punto don't have an internal boot release somewhere near driver seat?

Cheers!

It does have a boot release lever next to the driver's seat along with the fuel lid opener lever.

The exterior styling was very similar the current model. I haven't been in a Punto before, but from what I was able to glance, the interiors looked pretty good.

There was a beige / cream dashboard with a pretty loaded console.

I wish I could get more pictures!

Very much possible. As per Fiat's road map, they have got 4 launches for 2014 and it is New Linea, New Punto, New B Segment SUV (Avventura), and Abarth. I am expecting Avventura to go on sale by Diwali and Abarth should also be there by that time.
