I wonder if it's an essential to have, or good to have?? Unless we do insane speeds, the factory fitted equipments are good enough. Perhaps if you take it to a proper track, it may be useful. Any upgrades to the car has no or negligible value while selling it off. I painfully upgraded my civic with custom alloys, and state of the art music system, but it didn't fetch a penny while selling it. I wish I could have spent that money wisely.

I have booked mine from EVM Kochi, I dont have the exact on road price yet but a round figure of 9.3 is what was told to me.They had 10 cars ex stock or allotted to them as of 12th September, I have booked a deep black one, booking amount 10K INR, they said I can take delivery after 2 weeks. The GT Tdi I test drove was a red one.

Going by the short waiting periods and generous dealership allotments such as the one you mentioned above, I think GT TDI will soon sport discounts or other offers such as free service package, free insurance etc. very soon. In comparison, the GT TSI seems to be in very short supply and does not seem like it will have any discounts or offers anytime soon. The latter had a stiff I price hike already and I sense more price hikes coming soon, since the TSI is too good of a value proposition even at the current price point.

I went to VW thrissur today. The car's price is 9.4lac onroad. They have loyalty bonus of 25+30k somehow - for previous VW customers(i've bought polo and vento before) - but they are NOT ready to give it for the GT Tdi, it's there for all other models (dont know about gt tsi). Is it the same situation everywhere?

Same situation everywhere. Not even corporate discount. You can try negotiating on Insurance, check quotes from other insurers.

I have been quoted 930651 INR as onroad price in Kochi as of today. What is the delivery lead time in Thrissur?

I am planning to register it in kerala and take it to bangalore next month, can anyone advise me on the formality to re-register in Karnataka or do I need to do that?

At VW Thrissur the price is 8,22,365 ex showroom + 65,889 Road tax + Handling charges 9750 + 41,823 insurance =9,39,827. We had gone in order to book and finish other formalities, but the discussion got over with the No Loyalty bonus scheme & we didn't ask in exactly how many days they could deliver. They have enough stock now i guess. With the added discounts we could get vento highline D at approx. 10.8 & polo 1.2tdi for a much lesser price than the quoted 8,36,526rs. So dad has decided not to rush into getting the GT & I am here researching more & gathering info from other bhpians.

Re: VW Polo 1.6L GT TDI coming EDIT: Now launched

The car has just been launched. So don't expect any discounts or bonuses now. But it will happen eventually. It always does with VW. I think it would be better to wait for a few months and not rush in as Veelubai says.
I wonder when the official TD of the GT Tdi is going to come up on TBhp. Have been waiting for a few days now.

Thanks. You're spot on for the reason of upgrading tyres. I felt the brakes to have much lesser bite compared to my old verna (it has four discs and yoko s-drives also) and even w.r.t the Brio , with the power on tap. Really feel they should have given discs all around, without ESP also it would improve things better.

Needs suggestion on 205/50 r16 tyres out there. I have come across yoko s-drive and yoko a-r1. S-drives have been doing a very good job in my Verna. Heard A-R1s are much more silent . Can someone comment on the same, what about the difference in levels of grip between them? Any other brand I should be considering?

Apollo Acelere Maxx. Good tyres for the money. Silent and softer hence more comfortable than the Yoko's. I was running A drive R1s earlier, now Acelere Maxx. 205 50 R16.

Which alloy wheels are you planning to upgrade to?
