CarPad5 costs 20k in the market if bought separately, and the reverse sensor is a Fiat genuine accessory costing ~4k. You are getting both of these products for paying 14k more compared to the regular discounted price. I wonder how anyone can think this is not VFM, since you are saving 10k straightaway on market price. For someone who wants a GPS device, here is an opportunity to buy it and the reverse sensor for ~10k less.

P.S - I am myself not opting for the absolute edition, simply because I don't need a second GPS device (I'd bought one last year with the T-Jet), but this offer is a really good proposition for someone wanting to buy it at reduced cost.
Exactly, its really hard pressed to see people simply dismissing it as not VFM. With just the additional cost of 14K for the insurance, the host of things are coming with the car. Not to forget the sill plates, customized mats (not so great mats though), mud flaps, Car Pad, reverse parking sensors.

When I bought the car, if this was available, I would have definitely gone for this.

Even, I was criticizing this Absolute edition from Fiat. But, after getting to know that all these is available for Rs. 14k. It is really value for money.

re: Fiat Punto / Linea - Limited "Absolute Edition" Now Available

I just heard from some sources that some top ranking officials of FIAT-ITALY will be visiting India in the mid of December. They are expected to make an "important" announcement. Fiat India badly needs a new car in its portfolio. Also the existing "lineup" needs a upgrade very urgently. Why cant we have the Punto EVO here in India? The Punto cant simply compete with the Swift and Polo in its present avatar. KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED.

I think date has already been announced as Dec 6th. FIAT is supposed to hold a media conference to announce the future roadmap for FIAT and Chrysler in India.

Major announcements expected are regarding JEEP, and dealership appointments.

I was just browising through the Fiat India site and happened to click on the pdf with details of the Absolute edition. I was surprised to see the header of the PDF file.

Regards,
This has been the case in the recent past- FIAT media statements carry both FIAT and Chrysler logos. Its no secret that JEEP from Chrysler is making its entry to India through FIAT.

The announcement will be made of Dec 6th, IIRC.

I believe these logos are appearing from the date the separate company for the distribuiton was formed and the existing customer who received the letters from FIAT.

2 more days to go.

Slightly OT, but relevant to the absolute editions.

The ads that are appearing during the breaks of the current test match between India and England is simply crap. The ad does not showing anything but confusion.

Only positive is savings worth 78,000/- When will Fiat hire a proper ad agency to make an ad that makes an impact.

+ 1.

Really sad marketing strategy from Fiat. It's an absolutely crappy ad & the sales figures are showing.

Re: Fiat Punto / Linea - Limited "Absolute Edition" Now Available

The major share of the benefits lies in exchange bonus and loyalty bonus, so if somebody is selling a car it will be useful, the cars are grossly undervalued by dealers for a very high margin on used car. The 2 recent examples of my own are, a 2011 model i20 Sportz with a sequential LPG kit was valued for 3.5 lakhs and 2013 model Chevy Beat Diesel PS was valued for 3.4 lakhs, there is a clear visible margin of 1 lakh for the dealer, so with such an attitude they are losing prospective customers. Alternately they should think of passing on benefits to the customer directly than to the dealers, then only they can sell the cars in big numbers.

Re: Fiat Punto / Linea - Limited "Absolute Edition" Now Available

I prefer dealing the old car sale to Maruti True Value and make a deal for purchase as a seperate exercise.

This gives me almost market equal payout on the old car as I am not making it as part of the deal while try and negotiate hard with the dealer on fresh purchase.

I am not sure if there is a better way then this - may be sale of old car to a third party directly on portals like team-bhp, olx etc but then I am not sure of the paper work.

Cheers

The GPS navigator is VX250 from mapmyindia which runs windows CE. it does not have 3G/GSM facility. it can connect to internet through host BT phone. It has FM transmitter, AV/Text player other than maps. Maps can be updated at a cost from mapmyindia. (this was a carpad in 2012 offer, running android I guess). For my usage, This is a forced junk accessory.

Reverse parking sensors does not have a display, just the beep. The sales representative promised me the display. last minute delivery he says the display does not come with the unit and that he was miss informed earlier. (I think the display was available in 2012 offer). they are not ready to put the display/integrated mirror even at the extra cost as it voids the warranty.

Fait says it is at no extra cost but around 25K is recovered by reducing the standard discount my friend got before the festive season.

Fiat stop harassing your customers by forcing them to buy the junk accessories.
