Not correct.
Part of the reason for establishing the new sales and service network is to break away from Tata and work independently. So there is no question of Tata managing their centres anymore.
Fiat India will be appointing exclusive dealers / service centres which will not be shared with Tata cars any further, after they are launched that is.

Re: Fiat revvs away from Tata dealerships. To set up its own distribution network

sme clarifications
1]TATA -FIAT SPA JV still remains.the jv will run the ranjangaon plant together.so the JV is only for production.maruti, premier,gm will be customers of the JV
2]FIAT GROUP AUTOMOBILES INDIA is the new subsidiary of FIAT SPA which will handle all sales, service and spares operations.no involvement of tata motors.will be just like an exclusive manufacturer.
3]New dealers will be totally independent of TATA MOTORS network.no sharing of any infrastructure.although most tata motors dealers will take up fiat dealerships, they will do so by forming a separate entity.
4]good news for palio customers as FGAI[FIAT GROUP AUTO INDIA] is in the process of importing palio parts from countries where it is still produced.
5]2013 march should be when most dealers will open the new exclusive showroom and workshop infrastructure.

early 2014 will see the launch of another brand from the fiat group stable.

FIAT product launches will begin once all 80-100 new dealers are in place by march 2013.

In Another interview given to automotiveproductsfinder.com, a question regarding spare parts availability was thrown at Mr. Atanasio. This was what he replied

Q: Current Fiat car owners are not very happy with the existing service standards and spares availability?
A: That is precisely the reason we are keen to set up a strong Fiat dealer network. In India we have the biggest parts operation in the Asia-Pacific region. We will be expanding our service operations big time. We will be focusing on service and spares for Palios

May be, Palio users will see light at the end of the tunnel soon!

Actually these announcements are being made since September last year (see link below), though their statement technically stands true as then they had mentioned a time frame of 1 1/2 to 2 years. But I am more interested in a service centre, as there is already one FIAT exclusive showroom in Delhi. Still I feel it will be too little, too late - unless they come out with some new blockbuster products, especially in the hatchback space, as a higher priced product will not easily find ready acceptance.

Karthikk what you say is absolutely true. I met one of the Prerana Sales rep and the conditions that have been put by FIAT is very clear of no TATA influence even in the vehicle storage in the yard.

I definitely belive FIAT is serious about setting up the service centers, showroom and the vehicle storage (more of yard type) at a single location.

Also the current set up of TATA buying the FIAT cars and then marketing them will Vanish very quickly right after December 2012.

Some of the guidelines given by FIAT are

1. The showroom once selected will be inspected by FIAT and only then the go ahead is given. Dont be surprised to see the Italian boss visiting the existing dealerships.

2. The FIAT Caffe theme will be applied to the showroom as well. (This will definitely push up the investment higher).

3. A FIAT heritage car to be displayed in the showroom with a dias and the red carpet.

4. Finally the Fiat cars will not rest with TATA cars even in the yard.

Will post more details as and when I get them.

OT. By the way Karthikk were you at the BTM Layout signal (the one after the Udupi garden while going towards Silkboard) at 12.45 pm today? Saw a black Tjet with the spoiler, so guessing I might have spotted you.

Re: Fiat revvs away from Tata dealerships. To set up its own distribution network

After 6 years of owning Palio 1.2 NV ELX and having faced scores of issues, my romance with Fiat is about to end, unless ofcourse Fiat starts operating a similar exclusive workshop in Delhi NCR as well.

Re: Fiat revvs away from Tata dealerships. To set up its own distribution network

It has definitely come as whiff of fresh air as we watching with baited breathes the fiat new ekla chalo endevour .Last month sales figures was its lowest around 500 cars ,comparing this to 50k figures of the maruti says it all.The two dedicated showrooms (one at delhi and other at hyderabad)set the tone for the new fiat avtar in India ,and we at Team-bhp has been clamoring for it since long.Anyways this augurs well for the fiat enthusiast and prospective buyers and indicates fiat means Business.

Re: Fiat revvs away from Tata dealerships. To set up its own distribution network

Considering that TATA possibly gets a cut from what we pay for service of FIAT vehicles at the existing TASS dealerships, will the service rates etc of these FIAT exclusive centres be lesser ?

Fiat's new Entity - Fiat Group Automobiles India Pvt. Ltd.

Fiat Spa has now formed a new company in India to distribute and service the Fiat group products.

About Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited: (FGAIPL)
About Fiat Group Automobiles India Pvt. Ltd: (FGAIPL) is a fully owned subsidiary of Fiat Group Automobiles, Spa, Italy. The company was incorporated in Mumbai, India in March, 2012 having its registered address at Corporate Park – II, 5th Floor, Sion Trombay Road, Chembur, Mumbai 400 071. The company is putting in place an organization & appointing dealers across the country. The company in India will be a National Sales Company to market & sell Fiat branded products manufactured and imported into India. For the immediate, the company will sell the Linea & Punto manufactured by the Tata-Fiat JV in India. Soon other branded products of Fiat & Chrysler will also be sold through the new exclusive Fiat dealers being put in place across the country. The company in India will have around 100 employees & near to 80 dealers by 31st March 2013.

Another interesting observation is that the press release note has the logo of both Fiat and Chrysler.

Re: Fiat's new Entity - Fiat Group Automobiles India Pvt. Ltd.

had these fellows had the guts to go it alone back in 2007 itself, I would have been driving a palio diesel now :(

but anyways - in one year, the swift will be up for replacement. Its upto the punto (IF the service network becomes okay) or the micra then

Re: Fiat's new Entity - Fiat Group Automobiles India Pvt. Ltd.

Fiat this is your last chance, don't think you'd have a come back if you manage to botch it up this time as well!

Hope they concentrate on :-

1. Strengthening service network, train the mechs & supervisors better, improve spares inventory
2. Look at the cars you are competing against, maybe there is something to learn, sprucing up the interiors perhaps
3. Talk a leaf or two out of VW's book.

Re: Fiat's new Entity - Fiat Group Automobiles India Pvt. Ltd.

Me too think this is the last chance for FIAT for a comeback.
Few things in priority
1. Wider service network
2. Bring Spare parts at a much cheaper price
3. Bring a few more models from Chrysler and the likes

Fiat spares are quite cheap, actually. Not Tata cheap, but if you consider other European manufacturers like VW and Skoda, or even Hyundai, Fiats are easier on the wallet to maintain.
It's availability that's the issue. If your Fiat develops a fault or meets with an accident and needs a part replacement, consider yourself lucky if the service centre has it in stock. They also make inordinate delays in ordering and procuring parts.

This is a great news for Fiat owners in Pune ... Also about parts availability I was fortunate enough in Pune to find all parts in Pandit Auto when my car was front and rear ended on 31st March. I got my car back in exactly one week even though it was a insurance claim. And then last month when the wiper motor conked out and was replaced in half an hour.
