I think that's the way it is in every state, or is it not?

I had the same perception and I was corrected by a member on this forum earlier. I was informed that irrespective of the discount, the RTO charges are on the original ex-showroom prices.

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Hello, a family member in Mumbai MH-01 is looking to buy either a Tata Nexon petrol automatic, or a Kia Seltos petrol automatic.
Any ideas on current deals/ offers or what the scope for negotiation is on these two? Granted they are quite popular cars.
We always buy insurance from outside or get the dealer to match our offer, so beyond that.
There was some piddly discounts on the Nexon, in the range of 25k - 30k on the midrange model, but I was hoping to get some more authentic info.

Thanks!

I am in a different state, but I was looking for a similar car last month, and found this for nexon discounts. Of course, the dealer was pushing a bit and said I wont ever get this discounts if I don't buy in that month itself (last week of July 2024), but guess what, the same offer was posted this month too (Rs. 1 Lakh discount for creative+S DCA). Plus the dealer agreed to give a very good price for my very old getz, and was ready to throw in more if I was interested (That was month end sales pressure probably, and I was willing to pay cash/cheque immediately). In the end, Home Minister voted for the 3XO, so that's where we went. Good Hunting.

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Was very keen to pick up a Seltos. Test drove and spoke to multiple dealers in bangalore and received on road price around 23.7/23.8 for GTX+DCT Petrol and 24.7 for XLINE.

Couldn't go ahead as I didn't get desired value for the current car and therefore dropped the plan. Meanwhile checked out Creta NLINE and the wifey got excited about the Tucson . Took some convincing to avoid going in that direction, but then NLine struck a cord and then Seltos was anyway out of contention. If I do get a deal on my current car, I'll go pick a Nline. Maybe during the festive season *manifesting*

Also, wasn't Tucson at a 4L discount? SA mentioned just 80k

Road tax is levied on original ex showroom price only. Sometimes they levy it on the discounted ex showroom by mistake and later send a penalty notice to the unsuspecting vehicle owner.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, S-Presso prices reduced this month

Maruti Suzuki has reduced the prices of select variants of the Alto K10 and S-Presso this month. Prices have been slashed by up to Rs 6,500.

The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals-alto_web_banner_new.jpg

According to the company, prices of certain variants of the Alto K10 and S-Presso have been reduced, effective September 2, 2024. The Alto K10 VXI gets a price cut of Rs 6,500, while the S-Presso LXI variant is Rs 2,000 cheaper than before.

The price cut comes at a time when the small car segment is witnessing a slump in sales. Maruti Suzuki’s compact car sales dropped from 12,209 units in August 2023 to 10,648 units last month. By reducing the prices, the carmaker may be looking at boosting sales of its compact cars this festive season.

On the contrary, the SUV sales are booming. Maruti Suzuki recorded a 7% growth in this segment with sales rising from 58,646 units in August 2023 to 62,684 units last month.

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Too little, too late. If they can cut prices even after adding safety features, this shows that they have the potential to decrease prices furthermore. They are also forgetting now the used car market is an organised business, with many players, including their own True value. Here people can buy cars from a segment above at a lower price. So why would people sacrifice features, ride comfort and safety, and go for a lower segment car at the same price? Plus with easy EMI options nowadays, people are stretching their budget by some lacs to buy a car which would otherwise be out of reach of them. They should cut the prices a bit more to make this segment survive . And they don't have any competition in this segment. So all the more good news for Maruti. Hope the heads of Maruti realise that and do what they deem perfect.

And I think we were talking about waiting periods for the 3-door Thar just a month (or two) ago?

Unbelievable, this crap is still being sustained!

Anyway, this is possibly M&M’s way of clearing up the inventory with an anticipated converts from 3-door to 5-door given the raving reviews it has received.

I won’t be surprised if they claim significant wait times for the 5-door Thar even. It has become a norm now with every new launch, just like the ‘introductory’ pricing.

Where are all those people who say falling EV prices are impacting resale value? What do we have to say about this?

Price is a function of demand, the demand in auto space is cooling down compared to last two years. Manufacturers were earning huge premiums for last 1-2 years citing supply chain semiconductor and many more reasons. As the demand is cooling down, the prices are crashing and they will in turn crash in the used car market as well.

Anyways, XUV400 at 3 lakh discount is good deal, brings it almost on par to Punch.

I heard that resale value of 3 door Thar took a big hit in resale market, with dealers quoting low prices for sellers.

With Mahindra itself discounting the new 3 door Thar, its going to be a blood bath on wheeler dealer's street.

I think in a way this was expected. People were waiting with bated breath for the launch of the 5 door Thar. For majority of the folks (me included) the 3 door just didn’t cut with some of it’s shortcomings. Rather the core nature of the 3 door if I may say.

The 5 door on the other hand is a decent middle ground and should keep majority of the folks happy.

On a side note, there’s no better time to get the 3 door, new or pre-worshipped if you ever wanted one, exclusively!

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Thar prices in the used car market are going to fall flat on the face in the coming 6 months once Roxx deliveries commence; even more so in the Delhi NCR used car market. Had I been a Thar owner who is not keen on keeping it for the long term, I would have put it up for sale already almost 2 months back when the dates of Thar Roxx's launch were announced.

The Thar Roxx is overall, a much better product than the Thar and offers much better utility, practicality, and tech in comparison. Think of it as a lifestyle product to be enjoyed by the whole family instead of just a close group of friends. Friends too would surely enjoy the Roxx more than the Thar though.

As far as waiting periods for new offerings from the M&M and Tata stable are concerned, I would rather not be a crash test dummy and wait for the initial niggles to be sorted out before making any buying decision.

Very true - i am in fact looking for a used Thar - however with the pricing expected to fall sharply in used market - specifically for Petrol AT - eagerly waiting for Roxx deliveries to start.
