Push really hard. They have a lot of inventory. Ask for roadside assistance, higher cash discounts, extended warranty. Well, you could ask them to extend to the Jetta the same offer going on the Vento (3 years insurance, roadside free plus extended warranty of 2 years) I think.

Be prepared to walk away if they don't give in. Try multiple dealers and set them on a collision course with each other VW isn't doing too well and so this maybe the time to wrangle out a great deal.

It's a damn good price compared to what I coughed up in August for my Breeze Blue Ritz Zxi. But then again, I'm sure the road tax is comparatively lesser in Chennai. Just got back from Bangalore-Ooty drive last weekend and it was awesome. The roomy interiors and the peppy engine is a smile-machine

Thanks for the input... I have already finalized the car .

Any accessories or upgrades that should be taken care of before taking the delivery?

I got reverse parking sensor for free. Along with underbody coating and couple of other things at cost price. So guess I could say I got about 7-8k worth freebies/discount.

My friend took posession of a Renault Scala last week at "Ex-showroom price". This was in Chennai for a 2013 Sept model.

Considering the A-star automatic for town use. Not too keen on the upcoming AMTs from Suzuki. Which leads to my question.. are there any discounts currently running on the A-star with the impending launch of the Celerio? If not, will we have to:

a) Wait till an announcement is made on the Celerio or
b) Is it a case of low stock pileup due to lesser demand for the A-star, hence no discounts?

German car maker Volkswagen will hike prices of its best selling cars in India, hatchback Polo and sedan Vento by up to Rs 26,800 from February citing increased inputs costs and changes in the exchange rate.

In a statement, the company said it will hike prices by a 2.7 per cent on all variants of the Polo and Vento to partially offset increased input costs and changes in the exchange rate.

This price hike, of up to Rs 22,700 for the Polo and up to Rs 26,800 for the Vento, will be effective from February 1 2014, it added.

At present, Polo (Petrol) is priced between Rs 5.01- 6.11 lakh, while the diesel version is available at Rs 6.11-7.21 lakh.

While the Polo GT TSI is tagged at Rs 8.08 lakh, the Polo GT TDI is priced at Rs 8.08 lakh.

The Vento, on the other hand is priced at Rs 7.34-8.88 lakh for the petrol variant, Rs 8.49-9.99 lakh for diesel option. The top end Vento GT TSI costs Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Commenting on the development, Volkswagen Group Sales India Managing Director (Volkswagen Passenger Cars) Arvind Saxena said: "Input costs have steadily increased over the last few months, and exchange rate movements have not been favourable.

"We have tried our best to absorb some of these, but in order to be able to continue to offer best-in-class quality and technology to our customers, we have now announced a 2.7 per cent hike in our car prices."

The company on Wednesday announced that its hatchback Polo will have dual front airbags as standard fitment on across the variants.

So, now the Ex-Showroom Price of Polo GT TDI is Rs. 8,46,248 in Bengaluru. Glad that I bought it before the price rise. I can use the same amount in getting some alloys

When is Maruti hiking the prices? VW has had a steep hike now! I guess other manufactures will also hike their prices soon. I just got my Ertiga Zdi for 9.6L OTR in Chennai and hopefully i escaped the price hike.

Wow !! Ertiga Zdi @ 9.6 OTR is simply great. Are their any discounts? Here in Pune, Ertiga Zdi is around 10.5 L guess. Vdi costs something like 9.63 some time back. Are taxes on lower side in Chennai? Can anybody confirm Zdi prices here in Pune? Any discounts, freebies?

Are you sure if its a Zdi or a typo? May be 2013 stock with discount?

I paid 10.57 lacs OTR for Ertiga Zdi with alloy last sept in Madurai of which road tax alone was about 94k. It had 20k cash discount or Feliz kit for that amount. So, 10.37 lacs it was.

VDi would be 9.8 lacs and after 20k discount, 9.6 lacs on road.

I don't think its that cheaper in TN and I think its next to Bangalore in road tax. He might have meant vdi or some old stock with a great discount.

What I got was Nov 2013 stock. I had booked the car on 10-Jan knowing that I can push for discounts. I had got 45k cash discount, plus NCB transfer on insurance and say another 12.5k discount on bargaining with multiple quotes. What I got first was Zdi with rims which came up to 9.6L OTR after multiple negotiation sessions.

I later got OE alloys for 21.4k, upgraded to bridgestone 195 60 R15 ER20 rubber for 8k (after goodyear duraplus exchange) and finally added dolphin seat covers for 10k. What I spent in total with accessories is around 10L.

re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Guys finalizing on Volkswagen Vento TSI. Have been quoted 11.20 OTR New Delhi. The dealer says that there is no discount what so ever on this variant. They also informed me that there is no extended warranty available on tsi variants of polo and vento.

1. Is any one aware of any discounts on the TSI variant of vento?
2. Is it sensible to buy a car with DSG gearbox without extended warranty on it?

Please help , your inputs would be greatly appreciated.

1. Without discounts on TSi variant, the TDI is a better buy, mainly due to its excellent low end torque.

2. I would never get a DSG gearbox if there is no extended warranty. The DSG problems seem to start after 60-70k km.

On the whole the Vento TDI is a much better car to drive.

I think you know the answer yourself.

Me thinks, VW is not confident of the product in Indian environment, hence no extended warranty.
