@ THE ARUN>> There is no way to compare the engines of a 2005 TCIC and a 2.2 DIcor. Even in 4x4 form with the same gearboxes, the engine totally transforms the 2.2 Dicor, making it formidable in comparison to the TCIC and then add the ABS & EBD.
It doesnt look like he is looking to save the EMI cash to buy a house and furniture. The fact that he is considering the purchase and has pursued to post his EMI calculations and possible dealer options indicates he has zeroed in on his final choice of vehicle.
Cheers.

I think mumbai will have more dealers.
Basically you go do this
1. Sell accent independently. Dealer will always want to make profit.
2. Go to dealer around 25th april, tell him to give you 30,000 cash discount. Tell him if he does that, you will book right now, put downpayment, get loan and buy car, if he says no you will walk out.
One of the dealers will agree to your price. Its like a subzi mandi. You basically have to haggle. I haggled with 6 dealers in 3 cities and then zeroed in on my dealer because I got 25K discount.

Try WASAN MOTORS. They have a small showroom in Marinelines and one in Kandivli on the highway.
The Extended warranty used to be 5k. SInce when did it become 9k.!!
The insurance quote looks like a royal rip off. WIll send you a PM tomorrow... You should be able to get a much better rate.
Cheers,

Hey Jay, thanks for the info, found the other dealers, Wasan -Borivali, Om Sai Kandiwali, Galaxy - Mulund and Balaji - Thane. Have my Sat agenda in place already. Look fwd to the insurance details from you.

Choice of vehicle is excellent (Disclaimer: I own a TCIC SAFARI). For 13 lakhs, no better choice. Also 4x4, its worth its weight in gold. I have a 4x4, and its a BORG-WARNER shift on the fly system, more advanced than the ENDEAVOR -old and the FORTUNER.
Just one thought, for 3,50,000 downpayment, you would get a 4x4 SAFARI of 2005 model. Imagine, same vehicle (almost) and no EMI. Atleast try and search, I'm sure it'll be worth it. I picked mine for 2,00,000 and its a 99 model 4x4, and your favourite colour Black! |
Tx TheARUN - absolutely love the vehicle and i feel 4x4 is the right choice. Thanks for the suggestion though, it makes huge financial sense, but ur preaching to the converted here .... right now all i want is the pw thing. The obsession has reached dizzying heights right now, every time i pull my accent out or in of the parking lot i am practicing how ill park the safari or how ill operate the remote lock..... etc etc :)

Thanks tsk.
Will look at all the other dealers as i have listed above, the go to dealer put dp and negotiate looks the right approach. Should i consider the after sales service etc, or just look for the best deal, as i can obviously get the car serviced from any other TASS later.
Thanks Guys.
Cheers.
Its a 4x4, so there is a very very rare change you get old stock, because 99% of dealers never have any 4x4 in stock, its always ordered.
Make sure that the delivery time given to you is 2 weeks or more, this way you can be sure that the car comes from Tata yard.
So you can buy from any dealer, and keep pinging regularly to find out of your vehicle as arrived.
visit vehicle before delivery date so that dealer knows you are an informed customer and does not give it out for TDs!
Quick update:
Concorde and Bharati called about 20 mins ago.
Concorde: When i told him i will buy the 4x4 he said it will take approx 20 days as they will have to order the car (exactly what you said tsk :thumbs up)
Bharati: He said that i should come and meet their GM, I said i can only do that on sat and told him that ill buy a 4x4, he said '15 din main mangwa lenge sir', which to me means its not in stock and will take 2 weeks to deliver. he also said that i should come with the chq/ready payment etc so that the agreed deal can be closed on the spot (the subzi market syndrome)
i guess i should stick to my sat plan of visiting all dealers, by then it will be 24th April and i hope they will be more stressed to sell then i am to buy, and then i should be able to close a sweet deal.
Thanks guys, fingers crossed .... cant hide my smile though :) (very exciting two weeks on the anvil, and i know i cant give away my emotions)
Hey slicks, good choice of vehicle and colour.
I have a GX 4x4 too, like tanveer (TSK) above said, you need to haggle with each dealer telling them you will go in for the guy who gives you the best deal, once they are sure of your purchase they will try and entice you with deals and trying to outdo one another.
It is always better to wait for a fortnight or 20 days and get a newly built vehicle rather than instant delivery of a vehicle in stock, there are many threads with unhappy owners who went in for readily available vehicles.
I've been checking out Safari dealers too in Delhi/Gurgaon. All say the same thing: No discounts. Maybe they've had a really good year!
@tsk1979: Why go to the dealer end April? Any reason why they would be more amenable to a discount? Was looking at the calender, but no festival for several months for discounts.:D

Hope you don't mind me answering the question directed at Tanveer :D
Last week of any month (specially the last month of any quarter) is the time when there's a lot of pressure on the sales folks to complete the targets assigned to them. And therefore, in order to close the deal (unless they really had a good month), they would end up giving a good discount/freebies.
but Alok, April is not a quarter end .. & that means the question is still un-answered

Well, the way solution to a business problem in IT is broken down in smaller deliverables in form of a WBS, annual sales targets get broken down in quarterly, and quarterly to monthly. Which means, despite this not being a quarter end, the monthly targets would still need to be achieved in order to meet quarterly, and so on.. Hope that answers the question ;-)

Tx Lukeskywalker
I plan to do exactly that, and i'd be happy to wait for 2-3 weeks and then land a 'fresh' piece, also would follow the tbhp advice of a thorough pdc before regn and checking the vehicle details with the VIN.
So today was good a day, in the second half i got a call from fortune as well, and i called up JMD (multi car showroom in Khar), heres the update:
Fortune - 4k corp and 3k cash discount, then i said give me the accessories, he said he cant even give me the mud flaps, mats etc. please: (i don't even want the mud flaps, but still asked him), i told him ill let him know of my decision.
JMD - they are giving a 12k discount, and 100k for my Accent. Details attached. But i am not too keen on a multi car showroom. The famous Krishna Motors in Mulund are offering a 25k cash discount on the car, but i am sceptical about going that way.
Guess, will have to play the waiting game for the rest of the week
Question on Insurance: I came across a thread on tbhp (cant locate it right now) where some one has spoken about transferring the NCB on existing car on the insurance of their new car. Can the experts pls enlighten me on this. i have not claimed insurance on my accent for the past couple of years, should i opt for this.
You can try both the Fortune and Om Sai (kandivali). Don't go to Wasan. They have been known to be pretty nasty with PDI and servicing.
Also rem, since you are buying a tata, chances are (nearly 100%) that the car would have initial niggles and which will get sorted out only on 1st service. Also, in 3 instances I know these were also related to dealership, hence I had to go to the same dealer service station. But from 2nd service onwards I only go to Om Sai. Their workshop, workmanship and quality I really like and found to be the best in TASS around Mumbai. Get very personal kind of attention to cars there, which I appreciate tremendously.
Press for discount, they will give. I had been able to bargain a discount of 25K for my safari from Han Motors at Jogeshwari (its closed now). Plus till 30th April, there is some promo from Ta Mo going on. check that too.
Regarding Insurance, you can definitely transfer your old vehicle's NCB. Just get it included during taking of your new policy.
Dont rely on dealership for insurance. I had very bad experience for my Safari and also my cousin's Honda City. Dealerships charge much more in name of hidden charges. In my case, we refused to take the delivery and even threatened a Police complain. Thats when the dealership got to their senses and reimbursed the extra 11K they had taken from us under pretext of service charge.
You can buy your insurance from outside and very often will be cheaper than the dealership's preferred partner. But you will have to mention this to your dealership at the time of booking. In case you decide to go with dealership for insurance, ensure you take the entire breakup of charges towards insurance premium. In my case the actual premium amount was only 26K (as displayed on the covernote) and dealership charged us nearly 37K. We knew to look for this after the same experience while taking the delivery of Honda City.
Hope this helps!!
Hey Slicks! Congrats.
I would have also loved to go for GX 4X4 but couldn't due to cash constrains.
Here' the link for the NCB thread, you werelooking for.

On the mantra to squeeze a sweet deal look out for my PM. It works almost everytime, provided you are patient and willing to stick to your guts.
Thanks Keyur and Devil on Wheels, thanks for the all the details guys.
So, here is the update on my weekend visits to all the dealers.
Fortune: 7k discount nothing else, pathetic response, have told him will let him know my final decision. Not buying from them.
Wasan: No discount, not responding to my call, don't know what to do with them.
Bharati -10k discount + accessories, the guys look shady as ever. Not taking from them.
Om Sai - they will come back to me today with final offer. Though my feeling post meeting them is that they will not offer too much.
Concorde - 15k discount (plus checking for another 5-10 k), accessories, and accepting the NCB from my earlier car. Also discount on the upgrade for ICE if i get it fixed from them. The guy will give me the final offer tomorrow, and i have told him i'll seal the deal on 30th if its fine with me. So far this looks like the best deal, also my confidence level is highest with Concorde vis-à-vis the others.
Lets hope for the best :)
Fellow BHPians,
After 5.5 years of ownership of Indigo Marina, I have now decided to upgrade to my Dream Machine- Safar EX 4x2 2.2 dicor VTT. I have called almost every dealer in NCR. Here is some deals they offered me.
1. Triumph motors Faridabad - approx 15000 including free accessories worth 2250 and corporate discount of 6000
2. Tayal motors only corporate discount, They kept me waiting for 1 hour as no sales executive was available (excuse #1 -they were gone for lunch or on leave, some were busy with other customers.) Then finally an executive attended me, but seems to be rude and not even bothered to talk to me. I asked him for any other discount he can offer. he plainly said no. I told him ok I will see, he was least bothered to talk to me and I left.
3. A-one motors, Mathura road- Called them 2 times, they said they will connect me to sales executive and took my no too, but nobody called till now.
4. Rama motors, Okhla- Good experience till now. Had test drive. Offering me discount of approx. 15000 +corporate
5. Auto links, Delhi- Called them , they told me that they will come to my office and give me test drive and final price. Not heard from them since them
6. Srinath Motors-Ghaziabad- Had a good experience from them, offering free extended warranty and accessories and corporate discount. Asked me to wait for couple of days for new schemes.
Pls suggest me should I wait for more discounts. Rate of interest have gone up everybody is offering around 11%. Someone from Kotak called me and told me ROI for 3 years is 9.5 %,5 years is 10%. Checked with ICICI bank near my home ROI is 10.5. Pls tell me what will be a good ROI this time of year.
Is there anyone in Team BHP in NCR who also wants to buy Safari. May be we can get good deal. Pls PM me.
Any sugeesions from fellow bhpians, how should I proceed now?
PS- All no’s mentioned on Tata motors website seems to be wrong. When I called a no of Rama motors , I got connected to Autolinks. When I called A-one motors got connected to Srinath
