If this is how it is going to look, then WOW. Hyundai is one manufacturer who has shown the best improvement in design and agility for the Indian market.

I saw this car again yesterday when i was driving near DLF. I could not take any pictures since I was driving. It was peak hour traffic and the car was zipping through quite well. Also it was interesting to note that the bonnet looked very short. That is where it differs from the artist's impression. The tail lights looked more like the first gen santro(though it was camoflauged).

I think it will be similar to Kia (Hyundai sister company) Picanto. But it will be built to cost rather than Picanto.

I strongly doubt it looks anywhere close to the picanto as I have seen it in flesh and it is very much a stunning looking car unlike what the pictures are suggesting, the tail lamp and the side profile, the head lamps dont resemble the Picanto at all.

The picanto is an infinitely well proportioned and better looking car than any of the small cars that are in india. Looks wise, it is in the same league as Punto, i20 or the polo externally and would really do well if they just bring it as it is.

Nice catch Dhuli! The Fuel cap looks similar to the ones found on LPG vehicles. Is Hyundai testing both LPG & Petrol on this one?

Wow ... If this is the car (FB image), then it is for sure going to be a winner. It looks really good for its category. If Hyundai is targeting it against Alto then it must be in the range of 3 Lacs. For the price it looks really cool. I am sure it will be a hit car & a serious competition for the Alto. Competition is always good for us. We get better products at better price + we get multiple choice

Quite a treat, this little one!
But its not just the upfront price that matters.. Alto has proven to be among the least expensive cars to run - mileage/service/parts/etc..

This time around i feel Hyundai is better prepared to take the fight to Maruti on the economy aspects - mileage/cheap spares/maintenance as they will be using the same epsilon of the santro unit minus a cylinder. They should now have a better understanding of the Indian consumer behaviour with the wealth of experience gained over a period of time.

If it is indeed going to replace the Santro, why not use the Santro name only? It has become a household name in India!

Saw this camouflaged car outside of Hyundai's plant in Chennai, along with what i believe is a new Elantra/ Sonata. We were in a roadtrip, with me at the tail, so could not get the others to stop for a pic!

(Regarding the second car, i totally dismissed it as the Verna. Looked similar from the rear at night, and we were overtaking at decent speeds. My focus was on the small car too. Styling was very similar to the fluidic, but the taillamps were of a single flowerly clear lens type, with a tail leading towards the middle of the car. (Like this) Only when i saw a Verna later-on that i realised its tail lamps are totally different. Oppurtunity lost! ).
