re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

Front is a mix of estilo, i10, i20, and figo, while rear and tail light is from astar and alto van from japan (a modified astar). Side reminds me astar and i20. I think this is the result of maruti listening to customer feedback about astar and modified it. Seems longer than astar, so expect more bootspace. Interior has a cluster for digital clock like i20? Integrated headrest for cost cutting.

But the masked rear right side name shows 2 rows? Or slanted writing? I am utterly confused - like this design!

But it is not as horrible as i feared seeing the autocar scoop.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

Sorry for the repeated posts, but more speculations - this may be the car which replaces both alto k10 and astar, and may be named alto k10 itself, in tune with suzuki's international models' naming (the rear badge's second row starts with K). The alto/800 replacement may be another model.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

Now the insider news is that Alto K10 will continue, while Alto800 and M800 will be replaced by a new 800CC car which looks exactly like the one above, and may be named Cervo. The above car though is fitted with the K10 engine, will sit just below Wagon-R, and may be named Cervo K10. Estilo may be discontinued, while A-Star's future is also in doubt in India.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

The longish bonnet points to a possibility of a K10 motor under the hood. The F8D motor doesn't require such a long hood. My guess is they will sell it with two engine options - 800cc and 1000 cc. Although this car looks like a mix and match - figo's front, i20's side and the i10's rear, I'm happy that the design is neutral. It won't offend anyone.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

Since Maruti is primarily a petrol driven manufacturer and petrol price hikes are highly affecting the entry level cars, Maruti must introduce the above scooped car in the premium segement or at least in the 4-5.5 lakh category with a 1.2Litre engine, that too without any cost cutting or feature stripping, imo. Also, they must introduce a 1L diesel engine in the entry level cars as early as possible.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

This car looks premium than existing alto. How can they position this car as new 800, below alto ? Could be A-star replacement as mentioned by a bhpian, a couple of threads above.

Why no provision for Fog lamps? I consider fog lamps to be more of a safety feature than a bling bling feature. Also, it would be needed for areas higher up and north east of the country because of extreme weather conditions.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

Maruti Suzuki cannot afford to crowd the sub Wagon R territory anymore.

Alto has been a stupendous success let go by them so easily. If the Swift can outsell the Alto in a growing economy of 20 million cars an year, then there are some serious problems in Suzuki with value proposition of small cars.
An Ertiga is strategically more important than resurrection of M800 moniker.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

Any news if they are coming up with a diesel mill in the new 800/ Alto/ A* replacement. Some likelihood of that happening, if only to take the crown of the most cost effective diesel car in India too.

IMO I think they're doing A-Star to Alto like they did Versa to Eeco.

Good catch, HKS!

But really bad move that they named it Alto again. If they retain current Alto F8D, what's the meaning one is named Alto and other is named Alto800, as both have the same 800cc engine? They could have launched it with a new name if they want to take on Eon and the likes.

Exactly my thoughts now! Glad that they got rid of the high-rising belt line and high-mounted dash of A-Star.

This is the best view of this car.

re: New Maruti 800. EDIT : SCOOP pictures on Page 7 & 15

How many Alto's are they going to keep?
K10, F8D and this one?

So, 1 would be performance oriented (K10), 1 for CNG guys (F8D) and 1 for people targeting EON?
