BTW, I see lot of ads on TV/print/net for the Aria, these days, mainly concentrating on the features. Could well be the build up to the launch.
Therein lies the dilemma. If TML wants to indeed position the ARIA as a premium vehicle, they should not be trying to offer a lower priced variant. If the lower priced variant was found wanting in any aspect like quality, features, refinement, etc. then that would still be a hit on brand ARIA. No one would care to remember what variant.

Instead TML should have spent time and resources to improve ARIA either keep the same price point or reduce it across the board. In recent times, I can only recall Mahindra Scorpio to come out with a refresh and reduce the price at the same time, making it affordable. That is one of the reason we bought a scorpio.

IMO TML should have gone the Hyundai route. They tried patiently for a few years (and few iterations) with their Azera and Genesis models and finally they figured it out and now Genesis is doing better.

^^ Weight management is a novel idea, but, with aluminium & costly alloys would drag the cost to a higher level, where many of us won't be comfortable with the Tata badge.

Has anybody got mail from ford regarding the launch? There is some news that ford has mass mailed that launch is on 14th and preview at nearest showroom on 10th.

this is what even i feel is the right way.

They must stick to their Brand Positioning and concentrate on Improving Aria rather then reducing the price and taking a few things off the car.

They might not increase their numbers more, but will surely improve the way people See TATA in the next 2yrs. Which is what their target should be.

Today there are umpteen options in INDIA, if TATA continuous to be perceived as a car with Niggles, They will end up the Premier way or end up as a commercial passenger vehicle company.

Check the Fiesta thread. The preview is indeed on the 10th.
The mail has been followed up with an SMS and a personalised call to those who registered with them.

Scoopster!

The New Fiesta always appeared to me, to be significantly narrower compared to the Classic and even the Ikon. Is it correct?

Sid is back in the game! Thanks, and I'm glad they haven't stripped it down (externally at least) to make it cheaper.

Any idea on whether any of the other features are removed (apart from 4x4) when compared with the 4x4 Pleasure?

PS. Shouldn't the pics be watermarked?

Thank you!
But why is it parked in a place like this? Just for an effect?

One point is for sure, this is a great car without many niggles.
The sales are low but as per the market expected by a 15lac + car in india.
Now would it not make sense for Tata to better the product rather then devalue their product?
I mean, improve all the gaps consistency, better the quality standards on parts used, better the steering feel, improve the driving dynamic & ergonomics. But keep the price unchanged.
That would actually build the TATA brand rather then reducing the price and taking a few things off a good car...

The Aria is a beautiful car, just a bit higher priced for the complete package. Hence improve the package and the price becomes VFM...
Great Post.

I think a lot of people are missing the point when they say Aria is overpriced. Its only a matter of time people (albeit some!) realise what a great vehicle it is and also buy it for its 'image'. Sadly this is how the market works. Charging premium for a 'good' product does create a 'premium image'

Tata should resist the temptation to drastically reduce the price and rather concentrate on providing a world class product AND service.

A 4X2 variant is welcome as it would bring more people/footfalls to Aria. However too much price reduction or a bare bones/stripped down version would result in loss of brand equity and adoption by mass operators.

All in all a good effort by Tata.

Better not to compare on this topic, we have enough and lot of worse examples to start a debate on

Would like to know the pricing at which the 2WD will be launched, have asked my friend to hold his Innova booking which he's flatly agreed and holding onto his money right now.
