Finally got my RC book. I received an SMS from DM-VAAHAN on 4th September stating that "RC of MH03BWxxxx is handed over to Department of Posts on 7-Jul-2015 for Speed Post delivery, Thanks. RTO, MUMBAI(EAST)". I was like The RTO couriered on 7th July and they sent the sms on 4th September. I immediately went to RTO at Wadala. Got to know that MH03 registration for private vehicles is done from Poochkanwala Road, Worli. Went there.

Spoke with the lady at the enquiry counter. She searched in her system and said that the RC book was sent and was not delivered and has returned to RTO. (someone is always there in my house) She told me to come back the next day with address proof and PAN card.

I went back the next day at 10:30am so that I would be the first one in line. There was no one around. By 11:15am staff started coming in and the window opened by 11:20am. I submitted address proof (electric bill) and PAN card. I was given a form to be filled. The summary of the form states that "Since I was not at home, the RC was returned and thus I will take hand delivery. I have attached address proof and identity proof with this form". I submitted the form. The lady checked all documents and signed it. Then she asked me to get the form signed at three other counters. I roamed around the RTO and got all three signatures. Turned up at Window 4 with the signed form to take the RC. The person took the form, and got the RC. He told me that Smart Card RC is not issued anymore in Mumbai RTO since the contract for the vendor has expired in November 2014.. Received my RC book finally.

Car regn. of Mumbai, I am currently in Delhi - HELP

Can anyone help me regarding hypothecation removal.
My car is registered in Mumbai - MH1. However, currently I am in Delhi.

1. Is there a way I can get the hypothecation removed sitting in Delhi through some one else? Or do I have to visit the RTO in person?
2. Reliance Commerical, my lender is going to give me one copy of NOC, one copy of Form 35. Is that sufficient for hypothecation removal?
3. Is address proof of Mumbai needed? I dont reside there currently and dont have one as well.

My bike, a black Suzuki Gixxer was stolen about two weeks ago. I have lodged an FIR and intimated the insurance people. I am not sure how to go about the hypothecation. 23 Emis are still due amounting to 57500 and I was forced by the loan guys to pay this month's emi stating that my Cibil will get affected. How do I proceed? I certainly don't want to pay emi for something that I don't possess anymore.

Thanks
Regards

A vehicle on loan clearly mentions hypothecated to this bank on the rc card. Unless one takes the Noc from bank and gets it cleared in rto, it doesn't get removed from the rc

I've heard that the hypothecation markings can be rubbed off from the smart card. In such a case mere look at the card won't really help!

On a serious note, I will try cross checking the Smart card with DTO office to dig out details. Lets see but the scene at DTO offices here is pretty bad.

Send an SMS to VAAHAN. Hypothecation shows up on the reply from VAAHAN.
However, please note that even after removing hypothecation from RTO, VAAHAN shows hypothecation for another month or so till it is finally updated. So if someone claims that hypthecation has been removed recently, it will show up on VAAHAN after a month or so.

Send VAAHAN<space><Vehicle Regn.No.in Capitals without space> to 7738299899. Within seconds you will get an SMS showing Tax dates and Hypothecation bank name.

Re: All queries about Loan NOC, RC Entry and Hypothecation removal

HI all , I would like some information from my fellow BHPians here. I am stuck in a situation and I am not sure how best to tackle it.

My father owned a 2012 model toyota Innova GX. Last month he passed away after prolonged illness. The car is under HYP to a bank. Now that we do not have a need for a big car , I am planning to sell it . Is it mandatory for me to get the car ownership changed to my name ? Once I change it , I will officially become the second owner and the value of the car might further depreciate when I sell it . Is there a possibility for me to sell it directly to the new buyer without having to transfer the car to my name ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: All queries about Loan NOC, RC Entry and Hypothecation removal

So I have some queries. I Will appreciate if anyone guides me.
I have just cleared my Celerio's car loan from SBI, and have got the NOC from SBI on the same day. The next step for me was to remove the hypothecation from RC book, and due to some time constraints, I decided to go via RTO agent. I live in PCMC(Pimpri-Chinchwad, Dist Pune) area and my car is registered with PCMC RTO. So I have few questions:
1. When I bought my Celerio 2.5 years back, I was living as tenant, but now I live in my own house, 3.5kms away from where I use to live as a tenant. The RC book contains old address, and obviously, when the hypothication will be removed, the new RC book will be sent to the old address where I am not living anymore. So I asked the RTO agent that I also want to update the address with the RTO, and he said this is NOT possible. He said that the only instance when the RTO updates the vehicle's address is when the ownership is transferred to new owner. So is this true?

2. If what RTO agent saying is true, then doesn't it makes sense that I should not bother to remove the hypothication, and let the new owner take care of that when I sell my car in future? I also heard that there was(is?) shortage of papers which is now being used to print RC books, so it is not sure when I will received new RC book (3-4 months perhaps?)

3. My NOC from SBI doesn't have any NOC Valid Until date explicitly mentioned. So let's say if I sell my car 2 years from now, will that NOC still stand valid? I am asking this as when we received NOC from HDFC for my wife's car, it said "Valid for 3 months"

Thanks

Re: All queries about Loan NOC, RC Entry and Hypothecation removal

I am in the market to buy a motorcycle. Preowned that is. A duke 390 to be specific.
The said vehicle is on loan by the first party.
My question is, is it possible to transfer a bike loan.
If not, is it a big hassle to close this loan. And how to go about it.
