Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Hello Friends,
I would like to put forward my views regarding Bosch service.
1. Basically well-off and slightly experienced local garages have transformed into Bosch service stations. In Bhubaneswar I am yet to come across an Engineer from Bosch. The same garage guys wearing Bosch uniforms get the job done.

2. I have no idea what the situation is in some metro cities. Perhaps competent Bosch Engineers may be there to help car owners.

3. Bosch is a very big brand and in a few years time all these garages may transform into big multicar workshops. But for the time being they still lack the finesse of an authorized Dealer workshop.

4. By finesse, I do not expect AC customer lounge/cold drinks. Basically these small workshops discharge used oil/coolant into the earth. They themselves lack a basic idea about good engine oils. Their work involves a great deal of approximation and hit and trial, which a car lover would never allow with his car.

5. I never support authorized workshops as they charge a bomb. Basically buy the oil from Walmart/Reliance Autozone/Local Company Distributor and put it at a trusted workshop. Some works can be DIY jobs too.

Bosch Service Prices

I have an i20 petrol. It has been giving me trouble as the steering rack is faulty and crates lots of noise and vibrations. I have got my car serviced at Advaith Hyundai Mission road branch and got the rack replaced under warranty earlier. I have also learnt that this is a regular and known issue with Hyundai hatchbacks.
I would like to get it serviced and repaired at a better place. So looking forward to Bosch.
But, are they more expensive as compared to Hyundai ASS?

Sorry for the late reply. We got our Punto serviced there twice. They are competent, no need of booking prior appointments way in advance. The owner, Shetty Anna is a very well versed person. I was recommended that place by a friend of mine who gets his 10+ yrs old palio serviced there.

Charges might be slightly higher than local mechanics, but still lesser than ASS. They don't unnecessary ask to replace parts. Also what surprised me was that there have OBD fault scanners for a lot of brands. The SA, told me modern cars first need scanning before anything else. He was able to solve a indicator problem and wiper making a sweep at start in our Punto.

I'll rate them 4/5. They are good if you know what they are going to do. Don't expect ASS level of cleanliness in the workshop. It's dirty in some places, but frankly it doesn't bother me much. They used to be Fiat service/sales ages ago, but now are multi car service. I've seen Civics, marutis, few Skodas, etc. They are always busy in some car or the other but not overloaded. Also they will allow you to hang around and monitor the work.

They usually try to finish work in same day itself, but I was told painting job would take time. Overall quite a good considering no Fiat workshop in Navi Mumbai.

Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Bosch Nextgen , Wagle Estate Thane - feedback.
I took a Skoda Laura TSI petrol ( 6 years ) for a routine service as I was nervous about taking it to the authorised dealer workshop .
Oil and filter change, headlamp , bulb and other fluid checks and a basic wash . Took 6 hours . No complaints. Courteous. The young mechanic was knowledgeable about Skoda and VW. Saw a BMW and Audi getting some work done . Said a Porche came in for paint touch up !.
The cost of oil , filter , bulb, scan code service reset and other checks and wash came to 8750/- . They had to get the bulb from somewhere as they did not have ready stock. The garage was referred to me by a new web site Zonett . I was glad some independent garages with Bosch backing is available as an alternative to JMD and other workshops that seem to be getting worse.

Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Hi Chevy Lover, could you share the details of the Bosch center in pune that you went to? Do they also do petrol cars? I have a Civic that probably needs a fuel-injector clean-up. The authorized service center guys (Dhankavdi) don't think this is necessary but I feel it is.

Thanks.

I am extremely satisfied with Bosch. It was much better than the company service centre. I will update more details in my ownership thread.

And yes, I stood and watched the whole time. No questions asked by them. But they replied patiently to my hundred odd queries!!

Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Not sure if this thread is still active but posting anyway. Visited a relatively new Bosch service centre in Hegde Nagar (Times motors).
I had gone to replace my rotors and pads which I had sourced from outside. While they were promptly fitted I was surprised with a charge of 1500 pre tax (Seems unusually steep to just replace parts). Was happy with the water wash though.
They also quoted 1400Rs for fitting a headlight relay wiring and bosch bulbs (MRP for harness 690 and bulbs 90 per piece) are these charges normal?

Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Seems this thread has died pretty much but trying my luck.

Has anyone from Pune visited the BOSCH SC in Pashan/Baner recently? I want to move away from TASC simply because there is too much rush with Pandit Auto SC. So instead of trying to extract more money out of me by proposing unnecessary replacements/repairs, they are just trying to get rid of the car as soon as possible . Not that I have complaints about the quality of the service, the place is a bit far.

FNG is not even in consideration for me. I'm too paranoid about my car . If Bosch is good for routine services, I'd rather go there. Other than TASC this is the only place where I can think of leaving my precious.

Thanks to the pathetic roads right now + muck & grime accumulation, front suspension has started making "kyaannk" sounds on speed breakers. If a good wash on weekend doesn't help, I'll have to visit an SC. Will also get a dead glow plug replaced to get rid of the "Check Engine" light that annoys unnecessarily.

Inputs will be very helpful!

I went there today. But there was only one gentleman at the place and most importantly, all BOSCH branding has been removed. Upon asking the gentleman gave vague responses which were enough for me to turn the ignition. Nothing specifically negative but I didn't stay there at all given that it is no longer a BOSCH branded workshop.

TASS next weekend.

If you don't mind driving till Deccan, there is a garage called Kotkar Automobiles (020-25434685) on Karve Road, right next to Sahyadri Hospital. This used to be an authorized Bosch workshop (still shows up on the Bosch website), but is now a Shell branded workshop. I've heard that this is a decent place to get your car serviced, but do not have any personal experience.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated in any way with this place

Cheers,
Vikram

Certainly worth a visit! Especially the location is very convenient for me. Will visit it some time this week for sure. Thanks a lot Vikram!

Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Reviving an old thread. Has anyone tried Mudra Bosch Service Center in Bengaluru near Mahadevpura? I was planning to take their service to correct the brake effectiveness of my new Alcazar. Hyundai SC is unable to resolve it to my satisfaction.

Re: Bosch service center feedback?

Has anyone tried the new Bosch Car Service centres?

I see a few relatively new ones near Hebbal. The images on Google make it seem like they're large, well maintained, neat-and-clean workshops. The reviews also suggest the same.

I'm not satisfied with the service being carried out on our Maruti Vehicles at the ASC and am tempted to try out Bosch.

Any inputs will be very helpful. Thanks in advance!
