Beware of Ford Service in Bangalore

Hi guys. This was an email i sent to Ford India Customer service.

"I bought a brand new Ford Fiesta (Panther Black) 1.6 petrol Sxi with ABS in January 2008. The vehicle number is KA 04 ME xxxx. Since then I am really happy with the performance of the vehicle but it makes me regret when I leave the car for service.
I left the vehicle for 1st free service in Feb 2008 at Metro Ford (Bangalore). They did the 1st free service and before I got the delivery of the vehicle I found a dent to the left of the right tail lamp and a few scratches also on the bonnet front doors. It was not there when I had left the car for service. They argued that the scratches are not done by them and more over they said it is a black car and it is a common thing to have scratches. How can they pass a comment like that? Finally after a lot of talking Metro Ford agreed that it was their fault and it has happened due to their negligence and hence repaired it (removed the dent and painted the entire boot and applied rubbing polish to hide the scratches) free of cost. To do all this I had to leave my car in their work shop for 5 or more days and also I had to travel from Malleshwaram to St Mark’s road thrice, which is not close by.
Recently there was one more dent just above the right rear tail lamp and the driver side door handle was broken. So I wanted to get it repaired and left the car at Lathangi Ford (Bannerghatta Road) thinking that it is a new dealership and will do a great job. Attached above is the INTERACTIVE RECEPTION CHECK SHEET provided by Lathangi Ford service advisor Mr.Arivin on 14/11/08. He said the door handle will be replaced and the dent will be removed and paint job will also be done and it might cost close to Rs 4700 and the car will be ready on 18/11/08. Today I went to collect my car and when I inspected my car before taking the delivery I found a big dent in the rear area where you have the “DURATEC AND 1.6” logo. Also the rear right wheel cap was missing (stolen) and also there were a few new scratches. They had not even washed the car properly.

Mr. Arivin apologized for the damage caused by them and said it will be repaired (dent removed, paint job done, wheel cap replaced, 1.6 and Duratec logo replaced and scratches removed) free of cost. Again it is going to take 2 days for them to get all this done and the vehicle is still with them.
I would like Ford India to make sure the authorized dealers don’t take the owners of Ford cars for a ride. They cannot be so negligent. They need to understand that a person has invested his or her hard earned money in buying this car. This car (Ford Fiesta) is a very good car but backed up by pathetic service network. I need the car for my day to day run and there is again a delay. Do they even realize how much of inconvenience is caused to me and to them by all this? You guys need to understand that after selling a car you also need to take care of the service part and it should be a pleasant experience for the owner. I might say a million good things about the car to a prospective buyer but if I tell these 2 experiences I had (multiple problems) then do you think you can convert a prospective buyer into a Ford vehicle Owner? Hope this email makes any sense and may not make me send an email like this again in future."

Now guys please let me know if i can get the email address of any higher ups in Ford India so that i can forward the same to him/her. Also i will post the reply once i receive from Ford if any.

Lathangi has a severe parking space issue. They park the cars on the service road beside their outlet. They seriously need more space.

As for Metro, never tried them to comment. Apparently, sammyboy who has had his car serviced by them regularly since the past 3 years hasnt really had much chance to complain.

All said and done, they need to respect their customers' cars.

@Torque: I agree with every word that you said about Metro Ford. I had several bad experiences with my old Ikon 1.8D.

I had to send the car in for servicing 7 times to get minor issues taken care of and once there was white paint all over the bonnet, for which they gave me the same line, saying that it was not their fault, but a major argument gets them to do things right, thats what I noticed.

Things used to be different with Cauvery Ford, they used to provide very good service. But they sifted their loyalty to Honda. If the *** provided by Ford is going to be like this, it could result hit sales for them.

You can send the mail to write2md@ford.com, it goes to President & Managing Director, Mr. Michael Boneham.
I wrote once about an issue with the service at Bhagat Ford Jalandhar and got a very prompt reply in the form of phone call from chennai. This was followed up by many phone calls from many regional managers and I had the service manager of the local Ford Dealer running after me for a few days, finally all my issues were resolved with evne the reapir being carried out at my home.
After a few days however, everything seems to be forgotten and the bad Ford dealers get back to their usual self, "being bad"!

Thanked: Once

Lathangi is a new outlet, they have extremely scarcity of space and on top of that these are completely chaotic. People just keep yelling at each other. No on has any idea where is the other person they are looking for.

I had my car serviced here couple of months earlier. Quality is bad. I gave it for regular service and my trunk door, inner lights etc.. were not knocked off, WHen I called them they started giving excuses but fortunately I didn 't have to fight with them, they fixed it.

Cauvery ford's had a very professional service, Never had to worry about anything. they had plenty of space. It's too bad that they are no-longer with ford.
