Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

I stick to Thanawala motors in Thane - Wagle Estate (there is a shortcut from Mulund Vaishali Nagar to get there quickly). They are Maruti Authorized Service Master, which is a level above A.S.S and their service quality, response times, and equipment details speak for themselves. Been a customer since 1997.

Have helped me claim warranty from Maruti on basics such as wipers to more serious issues without a hesitation.

Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

Hello,

My WagonR VXi was due for 2nd service as 6 months were up, but the car has run only 3500 kms. The nearest MASS was the spectra motors at Borivali (off WEH). Gave my car at 8:30 in the morning and the car was ready by 12:30. The MASS said that the air filter requires replacement and since I am a novice to the techie stuff, I agreed. The bill was 500 rupees (airfilter cost + taxes). Now, what I want to understand is do the air filters require changing so early at 3500 kms? Or was it a rip off from spectra borivali?

Regards

It definitely does not require a change so soon. You should refer to the service manual. It states what all changes will be done or is necessary.

3500kms is just too early. and Ask for standard Maruti Labour rates. At times these guys charge too much of labour even for small stuff. Personal experience at Vitesse Andheri when i had my WagonR.

Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

My first post here. Reviving a 6 month old thread. Gave my 2 year old Wagon R VXi for for it's 20k servicing (car's done 17k kms) 2 weeks back. Had a Spectra Motors labour free coupon, so gave it to the nearest service center in Malad.

The Service Advisor recommended changing all the fluids (engine, gear, brake), complete brake overhaul for Rs.1,800, some A/C filter for Rs.350, alignment/balancing & ECU calibration for Rs.250.

I simply got the engine oil/ oil filter changed & the other fluids topped up rather than replaing them. Got the ECU also recalibrated, not sure if it was required. Paid Rs.1,500 for the service which included free dry polishing.

Overall good service, but after I collected the car, I realised the SD card from my music system was flicked! This incident turned it into a bitter experience. Even the memory card wasn't too expensive, but then it's a matter of trust when you hand over your car to a service center.

Got the wheel alignment/ balancing done from Straight Line.

Since the brakes felt a little weak, got them overhauled from Nakita Motors (Joe).

Its always better to replace fluids than just top up for the 20k service. Not always necessary but better.

What did they do in ECU calibration. As far as i know, such a thing is not required or should not be required. Did they have any circular from Maruti that ECU needs to be recalibrated or did you have any ECU error showing (Yellow check engine lamp glowing).

Even for brake overhauling, what did they intend to do.

Good thing you got the balancing / alignment done from outside.

I would advise you to keep away from Spectra as many of my friends have real bad experiences. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

The brake oil was anyways replaced at Nakita when the overhaul was done. Spectra said they would clean the brake discs and pads.

ECU calibration they said involves checking the circuit/ wires. Maybe they did nothing. There was no error light.

The only reason I went to spectra was the free labour coupon. Else Vitesse in andheri is the closest to my place.

Goto Vitesse Andheri and ask for Deepak Iswalkar. He used to handle my WagonR and was really good.

Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

Recently I got my Swift Vxi serviced at Powai Auto Works, Mumbai. For professional reasons I had moved to Mumbai from Hyderabad in the month of April, so this was the first time I got a chance to use their services.
Prior to noting down the list of tasks the service advisor took a test drive of the car to understand how it drives. As this one was a 20K major service, all the fluids in the car were flushed and refilled and critical parts like brakes, timing belt and AC were checked.
In all, I am quite happy with their professionalism and the attitude towards not fleecing the customer with ‘extra’ services. Full marks for their workmanship and meticulous way of dealing with a customer and his car.

Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

My friend has started to think that maintaining a Maruti is no more affordable. He had following experience at Spectra motors Malad

Serious doubt that MSA Spectra motors, Malad, Mumbai is into malpractice of overcharging customers. Looks like they have a "floor" price for service based on car model.

3rd repeated experience of overcharging & inflated service cost.
- This time various labor charges for break service costs ~2500 without any spare replacement!
- Vehicle service charge is 1815, but still labor charges for battery (150) & Electrical checkup (285) added. Wonder if Vehicle service charge of 1815 is just for allowing the car to enter workshop?
- They also add unnecessary items like "Freshner strip" (Rs75) without customer consent.
- Once noticed car was driven for 11 km after giving it for service & they couldn't trace who took car where & why.
- No attention to details, even the car wash is below average.
- After all these, they insist & force a rating of 10 out of 10.
Learnt another MSA offers full service including oil change + alignment balancing for Rs2990 & this guy charged me 2500 just for servicing breaks.
Doubt if Maruti has any control over labor charges levied by MSA.

Broke trust of 10 years & 3 maruti cars. Now can't say if Maruti is easy on pocket to maintain. Better go for Honda or any other brand in such case. All seem similar.

This is what I used to do - Go there with the handbook. Tell them to do the service & tell them that I won't pay for even 1 single thing which is not there in the handbook unless you phone and ask me before doing it. While picking up the car, go through the bill and make them remove the charges for each and everything which isn't in the handbook. I have got charges removed for various stuff - like a 50 rupee tyre air cap to bigger stuff like oil additives.

Re: Best Maruti (MASS) Garage in Mumbai

Bumping an old thread,

MSIL has revoked Spectra Motors dealership w.e.f. July 2018. Saw this notice in today's Hindustan Times.
Suggest all customers to take adequate precaution.

@GTO - would you still recommend the Vitesse Andheri ? or some other MASS ?

I had a really bad experience with Automotive Manufacturers at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

They do not even wash the car properly. I had a gear problem with my brand new ertiga (driven 2k kms only) The problems still persist. They did nothing to get it rectified.

I used to like Powai auto works and get my car serviced there. Through off late I have a feeling they have started to fleece customers quoting for too many parts to be changed/replaced. Sent the car for some noise coming while turning the car - during the last service, i was told this is to do with steering.

Today, when i sent it for repair, i am told the steering, suspension, engine mounting all need to be changed!

Any recommendations for other repair shops around powai? want to get a second opinion.
