Tata Motors on Friday announced it had inaugurated 70 new sales outlets across 53 cities in the country in a single day.







The newest 70 sales outlets inaugurated are located in the southern part of the country even as Tata Motors is looking at an increased presence in states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, Anhdra Pradesh and Kerala. Cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi are in key focus.

That's one step further in their goal of cementing that 3rd spot. I won't be surprised if they are already thinking about challenging for the 2nd spot now.

Tata Motors is looking at massively expanding its sales store presence in southern parts of the country.

With the addition of these new showrooms in a rapidly growing market, Tata Motors’ network in Southern India (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh & Kerala) will be 272 and the retail footprint in India will grow to 980.

Make hay when the sun shines. Tata should revamp their dealership like Nexa. The revamp should instil confidence to existing MS, Hyundai customers if they wish to switch to Tata. Tata should do something like change uniform, bring in a good theme standard across all dealership showrooms. Currently Tata cars are in a good place in Indian market. Tata should put dealers in place as well.

Will all these outlets be dealing with EVs as well? Then that would enable Tata's EVs to establish themselves and take a huge chunk of the market pie.

Imagine if they sell one car per day per dealer which amounts to 30 cars per month, that is 2100 cars which is 6-7% of their current dispatches! Hope these are opened strategically to ensure more coverage rather than opening many nearby.

This is a very impressive move by Tata Motors. This shows their commitment to cement their status as a major player in India.
I wonder how many of these sales outlets have associated service outlets.

Great to have opened new showrooms. Kudos to Tata for the expansion.

One new showroom in my city. This will be the second Tata showroom in Madurai. The current (Chima Tata) guys are just arrogant. The service guys made fun of us at our back after we had an argument about an improper wheel alignment they had done. I hope the new Kaveri Tata turns out to be good. Kaveri Tata already has a commercial vehicles showroom in Madurai along with a Maruti and a Toyota showroom. The monopoly shall end now.

It is more important that these outlets have a good service point too. Once the service/ spareparts availability improves, people who buy cars substantially will tilt towards tata motors.

Natural, and coming from the newly rated #3 carmaker of India, going by sales numbers its not unusual.

It's like when some incumbent newly takes over an influential and responsible post. He or she becomes dynamic, action oriented and tries his or her hand at doing things that are expected to make the tenure memorable.

But only hope that this class of 2021 comprising the 70, don't create sales or service issues that get reported here in new threads.

Tata definitely needs more dealers, their sales have gone up from 10000 / month to 30000 in just a few years! Dealers will be happy too because they have cars with healthy profit margins. But Tata should recruit dealers carefully and choose some new blood. Many of the current Tata dealerships feel like government offices in terms of lethargy & customer responsiveness.

Dealers will surely be willing, seeing not just their current cars, but also what they have lined up (Punch, more EVs etc.).

Having been with Tata for many years I personally feel that their show rooms need some character. The erstwhile VST Motors in Chennai was housed in a heritage building and added an old world charm to the Tata cars of old, but times are changing.

The Blue lines some how seem to remind me of a hospital and is functional, which suits CVs i guess. With their transition to more good looking passenger cars, they can look some colour and vibrancy, which will make their showrooms more engaging.

This is a healthy move for Tata reassuring the customers of their footprint getting bigger and better everyday. I believe in next five years, they’ll have stronger presence close to being a Maruti Suzuki! All they need to do now is to ensure they’ve competitive service personnel to handle issues the customers would face. Atleast for next 2 years, I’m sure the new outlets would compete well to earn customers trust - so it’s kind of taken care there.

I m glad that they are increasing the footprints across South India. I am equally sad that they are no different than regular TaMo leadership, even in 2021.

Look outside, the whole dealership experience is changing. These experience centres are first moment of truth and they can't stay ordinary anymore. Look at LaMaison from Citroen and how beautifully they crafted it. Look at Ather experience centers. Forget it, Nexa showrooms itself has different ambience from which we are familiar with. When they planned 70 showrooms together, something revolutionary could have been incorporated that adds value to showroom experience. Showroom's ambience, facilities ,hospitality etc does add up into sales experience. It comes into play directly or indirectly in buying decision too.
Tata no more sells taxi Indicas and image has changed. They are 3rd top selling manufacturer here . They are number one in passenger car's EV space. They sells cars which are worth of INR 28Lakhs.
A big opportunity is wasted, IMHO.
