Re: Experience: Selling my car to Cars24.com

Didn't have a good experience in trying to sell my Seltos to Cars24 in March 2025.

Booked a Cars24 inspection appointment, and the inspection process was quite thorough and professional, but that's where the positives ended.

The quote was much lower than expected, the quote was about 10.38 lakhs and about a lakh less than the AI prediction.

Got a call about the quote, to which I responded it's quite low. They said they'll try to match it if there's a better quote. At that time, I'd only begun scouting, so I didn't. Got a 15k increment nonetheless, orally.

But then Spinny gave me a quote which was 11.75 lakhs, after which I promptly informed Cars24. First up, I'd to explain the same to 3 agents. They said they'll try to match it, but there was absolutely nothing from their end. I got a callback asking for the details but they had heard a 1 lakh lower quote which they also weren't able to match. I informed that I'll be selling it to Spinny and to not call me anymore, and put my number on DND.

Once I sold my car to Spinny, I still ended up receiving calls from Cars24, in which the sales pitch was not stopped even after me confirming that the car was sold already. And the agent also didn't have any history on me sharing a higher quote from a competitor.

Honestly, Cars24 spammed me less than Spinny initially, which was a mess in itself, hence, had i got similar quotes, I'd want to sell my car to Cars24, but a much lower quote, coupled with inadequate resolute to match the same was very disappointing.

Was satisfied with Spinny's sales experience and prepayment besides the spamming done by them to book the inspection appointment.

IMO if you get a good price, go for it. Both CARS24 & Spinny are equally good and transparent.

They are good in terms of paying you instantly, no-hassle transfer. What else do you want while selling your old car?

Avoid local dealers. Transfers could be an issue in most cases while there are few exceptions like "Precarmart" in Bangalore.

If it is a first/second owner vehicle, CARS24 will try to sell it on their own in their autohubs across Bangalore. I have so far sold 4 vehicles to them. Either they or any used car dealer will wait for 15 days to start the ownership process. The reason is simple: they will normally take back vehicles if the buyer is not happy with the vehicle. In my case it took them almost 6 months to sell my Duster AMT, whereas they sold my XUV500 within two weeks.

The cars are also passed on to used car dealers across Karnataka by CARS24 on a credit basis, I guess for 90 days. I think CARS24 handles the RC transfer work on behalf of the used car dealers.

Re: Experience: Selling my car to Cars24.com

2 of my relatives got the valuation done, but the local dealers were able to provide more value. Although both of them appreciated the smooth process and low waiting time. Some more corporat'ization like spinny might benefit the company more.

Cheers,
The local dealers are mere facilitators between CARS24/Spinny and the buyer. Local dealers get vehicles from them just like on a park-and-sell basis; they get a small profit from the deal. See the example of my recent acquisition,
