Voted i20
- I am off manuals and no AMTs for me. So that takes most of the options off the list
- Altroz has DCA but we have already had issues mentioned on the forum. Plus Tata ASC is a gamble. As for safety, bigger safety concern is being left stranded on the road. So reliability over structural safety any day.
Hence will go with i20 which has both CVT and DCT options. Prefer the i20 N line.

I voted for the Nios ( AMT )

Never in my wildest dreams I thought I would a Hyundai over Tata or Maruti. I guess it's a testament to Hyundai's commitment / efforts for the Indian market

So, why Nios ?

- Smooth and livable AMT. Especially for day-to-day commutes.
- Better packed than Swift. One can get Cruise control and height adjustable seats from one below top spec variant ( this is great value ). In swift one need to go all out to the top variant
- Better reliability than TATA
- Service costs on par with Maruti, yeah things have changed at Maruti

Had an i20 N line and got rid of it.

I haven't owned the Swift but I can say that it's a really special car and I would love to own one someday. The new avatar looks beautiful as well, with some nicer looking alloys, it'll look every prettier. MT preferred but I would test drive the AMT first. Easier for the family to digest an automatic.

I love the idea of no-nonsense, fuel-efficient, hatchback for a second car. Easy to service, cheap to maintain and drive. What's not to love?

The i20 and Altroz are bigger, heavier all-rounders that can better manage highway and backseat use. For around-town and nearby twisties, the Swift and Ignis will actually offer more fun, more character and better value. The new Swift may prove to be a decent highway car as well. I voted for the new Swift but my heart is with the Ignis.

Voted for the i20.

From this list, It's the only car I'd buy. A city drive hatchback needs to have an AT.
AMTs don't suit my driving style. I prefer a TC > CVT > DCT.

Had the Baleno still come with the CVT transmission, it'd be my choice.

Voted for the TATA Altroz.
It's equipped with a Turbo Petrol engine, which offers more power than other options, along with a 5-star safety rating. The Altroz provides multiple choices, including CNG, Turbo, or DCA. Additionally, it offers a Diesel engine, which I don't believe other models currently have.

As seen in the Poll, the Altroz and the i20 are perhaps the most well-rounded cars in the segment with a near-perfect match of space, features and practicality, Moreover with the launch of the Altroz Racer in the coming weeks, the options available further increase. Along with the 5-star safety, the variety of engine, fuel and transmission options further increases its appeal.

Is it wrong to compare the top-end zxi plus amt to the 3xO base 1.2 petrol AT, it misses some comfort features and the rear wiper/defogger other than than the 3xO seems a better buy for just 60k upwards, somebody who is going to spend at that ballpark should definitely check the 3xO out. Especially when hatch prices have gone over the 10 lakh mark. And for the manual the mx2 pro and zxi plus are similarly priced and a better buy IMHO.

Why are we comparing the vehicles from different classes.

The Tiago is a tier below(comparable to the Celerio/Ignis) and the Altroz a tier above(comparable to the Baleno). The only real comparable model from the Tata stables is the Punch but unfortunately its a faux SUV.
The reason the Baleno is cross priced with the Swift now is due to the pricing. But I sure the Baleno prices will shoot up once the 6 Airbag regulations comes into effect.

My Vote would be for the i20. It seems to offer the most well rounded package in all the list. It's got features galore, space is ample, looks stunning , and Hyundai network and support is nothing to sneeze at.

Voted for the Altroz. Looks , mature road manners, safety , decent engines (iturbo and diesel) and the Russian roulette Tata service.

Really miss Ford, my vote would have been the Ford freestyle petrol 1.2. The diesel was a Rockstar but the bs6 execution was not great.

From the lot - it has to be between the i20 and Altroz. Both have proper ATs and are great all rounders. Tough to choose between them.

Voted for Others. And my choice is Hyundai Exter AMT.
It has all the learnings from its smaller brother (i10 Nios) and makes a very good overall package within budget. With a ground clearance of 185mm coupled with Hyundai's smooth AMT gives it an edge over its peers.
Its 1.2L NA engine has already proved to be extremely refined over decades. The same can be said for Swift or Ignis but then the interior design and fit and finish of Hyundai feels way cleaner than Maruti.
