WD TV Live Hub have WiFi. It will support NTFS external HDDs if that is connected to a PC that in turn accessible from hub through WiFi/ethernet.

WD TV Live supports NTFS through its two USB ports. For the tech-savvy, here is how you can add Wifi support to the plain-jane WD TV: Wifi usb adapter configuration with WD TV | WDTVC.com

Re: Networked Media Players - Play External HDD Content on TV

I just ordered a Pioneer DV-420V-K DVD Playre with HDMI 1080p.

Its costing me around 3600 rupees in Delhi's grey market.

The reason for me to go for this is that it is basically the only DVD player with a USB port that supports external HDD playback upto 500 GB & 1 TB.

I have played divx ( .avi ) formats on this on a friends setup. I am not sure about mkv format though. Most of the movie collection I have is all divx ( .avi ) format.

Most of the network players stil cost a bomb.

I love the WD Elements Play which launched internationally for around 10k BUT suddenly seems out of stock in most places. It is fantastic VFM though because it comes with a 1TB HDD also !!

Guys

Need help. I want to pick up the WD Live TV Hub 1 TB. The price in Pune is 12K from the WD distributor. Does it seem ok. Is there any better options available at that price range.

I bought this from ebay for Rs. 3900. Got it delivered the next day after I placed the order in the evening. I could not find the warranty card and bill in the package. I hope the warranty card is there in the user manual, yet to check this.

I used it only yesterday and the experience so far is very good.

It is a sleek player with HDMI, RCA outputs behind and USB and SD card inputs in the front.

I have not tested it extensively, but it played every movie format I tried yesterday.

The user interface is simple and easy to use. There is no lag while playing and changing files. But, the rewind operation is not smooth at all.

The player can be operated only with the remote.

Re: Networked Media Players - Play External HDD Content on TV

I just brought the Western Digital Elements Play 1 TB Media Player.

Has 1 TB Internal HDD and connects external ones too. Played it for 1 hour so far and takes about any format thrown at it.

Will give a detailed review later.

Re: Networked Media Players - Play External HDD Content on TV

Guys need your help. Need to buy a media player for the living room. Using my PS3 in the bedroom so its great. Can you help me differentiate between the following options:

Option 1
IOmega ScreenPlay MX HD Media Player 3.5 Inch 1 TB: IOmega External Hard Disk: Price India: Flipkart External Hard Disks

Option 2
IOmega ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player 3.5 Inch 1 TB: IOmega External Hard Disk: Price India: Flipkart External Hard Disks

Option 3
IOmega ScreenPlay MX HD Media Player 3.5 Inch 2 TB: IOmega External Hard Disk: Price India: Flipkart External Hard Disks

Questions:
What is the difference between the 3 & what file formats do each play? Most importantly if all can play .mkv format files.

Thanks in advance.
