Is wipe necessary?
Youre using flashtool, right?
I flashed kernel ,then rom on xrecovery on my x10. Similar on my ion, with cwm. Everything a-OK.

Battery life is more or less like ICS. I get about 13 hours on 3G with slightly high usage and about 15-16 with moderate usage.

The phone is definitely snappier though.

Oh, forget it then. I get 30-36 hours on the Defy.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I just bought a Nexus4; have used mostly Blackberries in the past and a bit of exposure to iPhone and Galaxy S2.

Could someone point me to a beginner's guide to customization of vanilla flavor of android? All I want to do is to be able to modify my lock screen and home screen to look like on of those mentioned at http://mycolorscreen.com/. When I read the guides mentioned on that website, I quite fail to understand the steps to take to achieve the result and think there are some assumptions or gaps in my understanding about application of these themes.

Haven't experienced any camera issues. Not sure about FM. Very stable though and I'm especially loving the battery life this thing gives me without any compromises on performance.

Here's the build link

Here's the Gapps link

However, I forgot to mention I have the US SGH-T999. I don't know if the international models support this build!

Forget 30-36 hours. I handed over my A2 to wife and with her minimal use, she is getting aorund 14-15 hours on 3G with standby most of the time with less than 30 min screen ON time. Don't know why but A2 3G battery life is not at all up to the par.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys, any pointers towards which ROM is stable and decent for the Galaxy S(I9003). I am fed up with the original samsung firmware. The latest firmware that i downloaded through Kies about 6 months ago is one of the most bug filled ones i have ever seen . Also looks like samsung has stopped rolling out new firmwares for these older models. So i want to get some proper firmware installed in it . Its out of warranty anyways

30-36 hours? Do you keep the phone in airplane mode or what?

Jokes apart, which rom is this and what's your usage pattern? Max I have been able to extract out of the Defy was close to 25-30 hours on EDGE. But not using BT or GPS at all.

I'm yet to see a decent speccd phone which gives more than 12-15 hours on 3G. So that usage by your wife is very much in acceptable range.

Woah !!

I haven't seen such battery life since my Nokia E63 !

U really have a tough task ahead of finding a replacement with that kind or even close to that kind of battery life. Probably a Razr MAXX or something.

The most I have extracted out of the A2 has been about 27 hours with 2G on, lowest brightness and very minimal usage.

I am on the latest MIUI GB rom. My 3G is always on, but with background data off. The GPS and BT are on. I may talk 1 hour at max per day.

Well, that is the trouble. After 2 years with Defy, I don't have a worthy successor for it.

I have a different opinion here from what I've seen. 12-15 hours of 3G standby with less than 30 minutes of screen ON time is not at all decent IMO Its OK if you're a heavy user, but that much drain on standby is not so efficient. My Neo used to give me more than 24 hours on 3G with around 1-1.5 hours screen ON time. Defy on 3G with WajKIUI gives around the same or more.
I have an HTC Sensation and an S advance in the family too. Both are giving around 24-26 hours with similar usage. A2 is an excellent phone for the price otherwise. Also, this 12-15 hrs is after the leaked JB. Before it used to be 9-11 hours. On an above average day for me (5-6 voice calls, 20-30 emails) I used to hardly go past 3PM when I was on A2.

Also adding the signal level/ CPU Spy results here:

Signal used to cap at 19asu before. Now with JB leak, it normally hovers around 20-25asu
CPU Spy shows around 84-85% deep sleep with this battery life.

The battery of my Defy died, got a new one from the service center here. After returning the old battery, paid 850/- .

MIUI or Wajk MIUI? If the latter, then 3.1.27 or 2.12.28?

I didn't know background data is SUCH a huge battery drain.

True, Defy is a very potent phone. Only WP can probably replace it for you in dollar-per-feature terms.

Thanks 9thsphinx, that confirms my understanding since there are no stable builds for I9300 yet.
