Edit : A quick search on XDA did not show any HTC One V modem//radio related discussions. Sorry.

If you need it, rush!

Guys I just rooted my Xperia Tipo with bin4ry's tool. It was successful!

But now I don't know what should I do? I'll install a custom Rom later, right now I just want to get rid of the stock apps and maybe overclock my processor slightly

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Have a weird problem with the Contacts app on my Micromax A100 (ICS)

1. I can't sync my contacts with Google. This has been a problem since two months. I have tried everything - but am open to suggestions.
2. If I try to edit an existing contact, and say add a new detail, I get the error "please insert phone number", and I have to discard the operation. The only workaround I have got is using Go Contacts app, which uses its own interface to edit the contacts, while most other contact apps use the stock contact app's interface. But I want to understand why this is happening.

Any suggestions?

Try Titanium Backup/ROOT Uninstaller to get rid of unwanted applications.
For overclocking, you may need to go a further step and unlock bootloader. Then you can install any custom kernel which supports overclocking

Have you tried exporting the contact list to sd card (*.vcf) and then importing the contacts to google account? After doing so, maybe try resetting the phone and syncing again with Google. Not sure if you have tried it already but this is what I can think of right now.

Flipkart still shows it as Out of Stock. This particular handset is being lapped up by one and all.

Just read somewhere that the GPS is horrible on this (takes ages to lock in) and the compass doesn't work.

True? Work around?

There was a firmware upgrade (V2) available last week which supposedly fixed GPS.

No idea as i dont have one. All the people i know who have brought the phone are using it mostly to play temple run and basic usage and havent used maps / gps etc, so no review on that front.

This has been fixed after the v2 release.

Try again and watch logs while this is going on. Errors in log might give some clue.

If you have rooted the phone, you can use any of free logcat viewer apps.

GPS should be fixed in current update.

This phone does not have a compass chip, so compass will never work properly. Compass tries to guess directions based on previous and current GPS location and this is unusable.

Thanks - the first part worked; so I have all contacts updated on Google (Contacts). However the other route (google-> mobile) is still not working.

A newbie question - is rooting this simple? Any other guidelines I need to follow before I root the phone?

Quote:
• Enable USB Debugging on your phone (Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging)
• Now download the Rooting Tool to your computer. Once downloaded, extract the same in your computer and open the same.
• Next Connect your android phone to your computer using your phone’s USB cable.
• After connecting successfully, you need a file called RunMe.bat. Double-click on the, a tool window will pop up.
• Now select “1” by entering 1 in the command prompt window and press Enter to confirm the choice.
• Once you pressed the “Enter”, the rooting process will start immediately.
• No need to worry, the process may take few minutes.
• Once it is completed, you will see an onscreen message that the Rooting has been completed successfully.

i was using my Nokia C6-01 and switched to Gnex. All the contacts from the Nokia Phone were in .vcf format. I just exported them from the Nokia phone and copy pasted them into the GNex's SD card and chose import contacts from SD Card. Bingo, it worked.
