Thanks for the update! Bought a few, including the Asphalt game. Once it started downloading to my phone on 3G, realized we were talking about 1.4Gigz of data! Would have got screwed by the network charges (I survive on the 1Gig plan)

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have also bought Asphalt 7. Downloading is taking time. Since I have crossed FUP, it is downloading only at 4 mbps.

Any other app worth buying? I don't think I will buy Office app since I already have Polaris office installed.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Some one with Atrix 2 and on 3G network please confirm.

I am having terrible battery life on 3G network. I am on Idea cellular in Kerala circle. ON 2G phone easily goes past 1.5 day mark and on 3G its down like 10-11hrs. Yes, I have a 32K sim card and the infamous 32K bug is only on Vodafone? My usage is strictly average.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

This seems like an interesting phone , the Karbonn A7+ :

http://www.flipkart.com/karbonn-a7-m...3-890de9cd08e3

Highlights :
3.5 Inch screen
5 MP camera.
Secondary camera (assuming it to be VGA)
1 GHZ processor
512MB RAM
1420 mAh battery.

All this for 6990 rupees! Dont know how good it is, but it is certainly very VFM.

EDIT : Funny, even Karbonn's own website seems to carry information only about the A7 and says nothing about the A7+...

@Desmosedici check if you can download JB to your Nexus via your Laptop or something.
I don't think that option is possible on stock ROM.

Saw and bought Asphalt. While purchasing, I noticed the size as 1.4G. Was surprised, but I thought this might be a typo. Now while downloading I know it wasn't

1. Data connectivity:
This was one of the main reasons I purchased this phone and it has left me disappointed. When in my local circle, it takes a very long time (around 5 minutes) to open basic apps like FB. As I type this, FB still fails to open in one attempt though I have a full signal.
I don't think you should use FB app as a benchmark for data connectivity. It is a very poorly built app and even FB recognizes this fact. Google for reviews and you'll notice a common line - 'The official Facebook for Android application is, unfortunately, no better than using your browser to login to the website from your Android phone or tablet'.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My wife's S3 has been having a problem for some days now. The 3G connectivity gets lost randomly and after that the only solution is to reboot the phone to get the connectivity back. On an average this is happening once every alternate day. No such problem with the Wi-Fi connectivity

Any solutions to overcome this problem? Phone is running on 4.0.4 and was bought about a month back.

Go to service center. They should replace the LCD free of cost, unless there is a crack below the spot where you see the black lines
Well, those lines kept fading through the day and now its gone !! Hope it stays that way and they don't reappear

Yes, 3G is a battery drainer. I'm guessing you must be using your phone a lot, like browsing, etc. With 3G on full time I get about 15-16 hrs. I'm on vodafone & the network issue has been resolved with the ICS update.

Kingsoft Office is far better than Polaris and free too.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Bought Tasks and OfficeSuitePro 6, just for the heck of it.
So far, I have been charged: Rs. 53 + Rs. 13.3 + Rs. 13.3.

Glad that exchange rate is better now a days.

Tomorrow there would be new apps, but I am traveling. :(

I am on 3G.

I dont browse much. Mainly office mails/personal mails, some apps (fb/bhp/g+ etc).
With that it lasts during the day till I go to sleep.

After ICS upgrade it became pathetic. It used die by 5PM itself. Then I read some where about to do factory reset. That helped.

But yes, as Tarun said, in general 3G radio drains battery big time.

(Do back-up before, if you want to save your data)

Once I signed up, even before any purchase was done, $1 was charged to my credit card. Is that expected? I bought Office Suite Pro and was charged $.25 again.

EDIT:
Please ignore the question. I see below in the FAQ section

<SNIP>
You may also notice a $1.00 transaction from Google, which is actually a pending authorization request between our billing system and the bank that issued your credit or debit card, so you won't end up paying the extra $1.00.

When you check your bank account or credit card statement, payment authorizations are often listed as pending. These transactions might remain in your account between 1-14 business days, depending on your card-issuing bank. Please keep in mind they are authorization requests only, not actual charges.

However, in a small number of countries, $1 is charged to your account and will be refunded. This refund can take up to 1 month to process. We recommend you contact your bank on the authorization status.
