As per class rating I should be getting at least 6 mbps r/w speed, but still the videos lag like before. Its a .flv file from you tube.
BTW, what video player do you use? What phone?
On my Defy officially HD playback is not supported. |
Are you on stock ROM? I believe you're trying 720p and not 1080p. 720p should run without any lags on a Class 6. I don't think the stock Moto ROM on Defy supports HD video. There are lot of custom ROM's which help you do that e.g. CM & MIUI :thumbs up
One of the best iOS app for news consumption with a magazine style which was supposed to be an exclusive app for android on Samsung Galaxy S III upon it's release has now leaked out.

[APP] Flipboard for Android - xda-developers

Trying to make my first step in the smart phone market.
Budget: 17K max, 14K would be better
Requirements: Good battery life, easy access to wifi for voip audio calls and internet surfing, max screen size 4 inch but 3.7 inch would be better, no gaming, GPS etc.
Shortlisted: HTC One V, Moto Defy+, used Galaxy SL i9003 @ 12K
Please suggest the newbie.

Isnt this the same as google currents ? |
Question should be, wasn't Google Currents inspired from Flipboard? :D
Functionally, both are similar but Flipboard for iOS and now android is many notches above google currents and one of the top / popular app in iOS.
Google currents has been buggy, slow and battery eater.

No. I m not on stock ROM. I am using MIUI based gb ROM since last 6 months. It has ICS framework. Still 720p lags. The video & audio goes out of sync due to slow frame rate. Are you able to play HD Res videos on Defy w/o any lag? I once tried full HD clip but it was worst, like 1fps or so :D. Even lagged on CM7.1. Not sure which ROM to try now.

Most of Sony Ericsson phones (even sub 20k price) would be / are being upgraded to ICS.
So HTC is not the only brand offering ICS below 20k. Its just that HTC One V probably is the only sub 20k model which currently comes out of the box with ICS pre installed.

Hey Thanks. Its about 17.3K in flipkart. The xperia series phones are relatively thicker compared to competition. Also, it has a 1320 mAh battery compared to 1500 mAh in HTC One V and even more in defy+.
HTC does not have good reputation in customer support department atleast as per online reviews. Can any HTC user please comment on this?

HTC phones are really good (premium body, premium materials, premium looks etc). So long they dont have a problem you are a happy customer. That was true for two of my phones - HTC Touch Diamond (3+ years and still good) and HTC Sensation (1year).
But their service is poor no doubt! My third HTC (Radar) was not working out of the box (brand new device) so gave it to service center. They replaced it in about 2 weeks time but the replacement is a refurbished unit. I suspect HTC sent them a new unit but maybe they kept it and gave me an old one instead. Naturally I was not satisfied and gave a very negative feedback to HTC on their site. Somebody called me (from HTC customer service). When I told him the problem he very nonchalantly said: The replacement unit is working so what is the problem!!! Now what can I say:Frustrati

Thanks a lot. This is the exactly the reason for which I am hesitating to sell out 17K for their phones. They really have a premium feel to it.

Any further news regarding ICS on the note?
Team,
Help me out of this dilemma.
I am currently using a GT- i9003.
Since yesterday the soft keys are not working.
Checked with the service center, the screen has to be replaced.
Replacement screen costs - Rs 6K.
Is it worth investing 6K on a 1 yr 3 months old phone or should i buy a new phone.
I am looking at phones in the range of Rs 25K. I dont want to buy S2 and more or less inclined to buy a HTC phone this time.
please suggest.
