Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My gadgetshieldz body protector is coming off from most of the top portions of my phone.
The sides started losing its adhesive properties in less than 6 months.
Can someone suggest another full body protector/ film for Motorola Defy?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Flashed Runnymede ROM based on HTC Sense 3.5

Installation process was relatively easy, with AROMA installer which is just like a typical installation wizard you see in Windows. I had to flash another recovery 4EXT to make it work. This is a touch based recovery program.

About the ROM: Very impressed! Out of all the ROMs I tried, including the popular CM7, this beats everything in terms of performance in HTC Desire. Apps start up time is the least as observed in this.

There are a lot of features in built as well. CPU tweaks, customization of status bar, notification etc., data monitor, ad free, Fully functional office application etc.

I always had the call connect delay problem every since I moved out of my old stock firmware, and this is the first custom ROM which effectively solves this issue.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hey.. does anyone know when is HTC one S getting launched in India?
I was waiting for it and looks like, as of now they are only launching X and V. They are already available on www.letsbuy.com

Looks like the usual strategy of launching the high end model, so that some of the ppl waiting for One S spend that extra bucks and get the One X. Then, once its sales stabalize, they launch One S to give them a new lease of life.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I loaded the ressurection Remix v1.0 ICS on my sister's galaxy S2. The thing runs fyaast.
With v9.4 there was significant battery drain issue and also some apps (especially music) was freezing up. In v1.0 Music is running, but yet to see about battery. This time, I loaded all apps one by one from market instead of batch restore from titanium. It seems, this gives it a bit more stability (not very sure though).
The ROM is here - [Rom][FULL AOSP][21/03]Resurrection Remix ics v1.0 PRO[XXLPQ-LPJ]4.0.3[Full-Wipe] - xda-developers

If anyone wants to try this ROM and wants feedback, I'll be glad to help.

Priced at 17k ,the HTC one V looks like it is going to rule the mid segment
But IIRC it's a single core @ 1 GHz and has only 512 MB RAM which is a little disappointing. But ICS + Sense 4.0 should be a good package I guess.

Thats is the exact catch. Either we dont get the MHz or the RAM. If we get both, we dont get the AMOLED. If we need all, we have pay 28-30K or more.

As per my thoughts. for decent browsing a 1GHz should be about OK for a good page refresh (this is just a gut feel). RAM becomes the more critical aspect. Based on what I see a 1G (or dual core) and GB of RAM based devices are beginning to rock the segment at about 20-25K bracket. Based on the battery capacity and quality of build, one can choose products in this mid segment.

@revved_up, Sorry I did not realize that.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

@apere; Noble ideas, but you are missing out one parameter. The speed of the connection. Try BSNL from my home, it may even drop into HSPDA but takes ages to get anything. One the other hand Reliance CDMA goes like blazes.

The internet gprs connection is problem indeed . At least at home/office Wifi this should not
be a problem. That is the mode, which I use in most cases. When outdoors, its definitely a
known problem.
