Can we take Video input via USB of a phone and use it as Display device? I have Samsung Galaxy Ace and thinking if we can connect Car reverse camera to it.
Thanks,
Pradip.

Is there a SWOT on these three phones :
1. Motorola Droid 4
2. Apple iPhone 4S
3. Nokia Lumia 800
The criterion are :
1. Voice call reception quality
2. GPS applications (with internet access speeds on the same network)
3. Music player capability ( ability to play vlc or convert it to a format which will run on that particular phone)
4. Integrated with Skype
5. Lotus Notes pull capability
6. Rugged build
7. Easy UI
Regards
P.S. : For India
1. When is the iPhone 5 due?
2. When is the Lumia 900 ( or its equivalent) due?

I don't think this will be easily possible/feasible. USB is a digital interface while most reverse camera inputs are analog :thumbs up

Yeah, even I was experiencing temp up to 44c when using default CPU settings on cm & miui. Later I changed the CPU voltage as below on my defy & now temp stays below 40 even under heavy net usage.
300/20:600/30:1000/40 (freq/vsel). |
Wow 1000/40 is damn good - Dont you face any lags during music or video or youtube?
I've seen 1000/58, 1100/60 etc and both heat the phone!!
Should try 1000/40 now! :D:cool:

Thanks for your response.
I do agree with you but that's what I wanted to know. Reverse camera has analog connectors, i.e. two pins which gives analog o/p either PAL/NTSC. Now we might get ready made program which takes care of this video input conversion or we need to write, which can be :Frustrati. So is it possible?
Thanks,
Pradip.

Before the program, we need something to convert analog video to digital first, I mean a HW converter. USB can recognize a 0 or +5V only. Of course, the SW part also which will take in the digital video feed and display it on screen :thumbs up

Oh. Pardon me for a mistake, I should have confirmed before posting but as it needed a restart, I overlooked it.
Just took a restart to confirm the values & they are as below:
300/24 : 600/40 : 1000/50
Got confused with last vsels as its been over 3 months since using like that & I experience absolutely no problem, no lag, no hangs. Even FC are very rare. Battery life & speed is also good.
You can definitely give it a try.
For Note users- The new Midnote 2.0 ICS rom is fantastic. The ROM is based on the leaked chinese rom and is void of Samsung and Chinese bloatwares.
No SOD or FC till this point and the themes are preety fantastic.
ICS on Note is definitely better than the GB. This rom comes with a Nova launcher which is another fantastic launcher.
Overall the Midnote 2.0 looks like an initial winner for me.

What is YOUR research saying?
WP can't pull Lotus notes. WM can, but the app doesnt work on WP7.5

Oh, thanks for the update. I am so wary of updating to ICS for the whole procedure involved to flash retaining the root.
While I am ready to take the plunge, I was looking for concrete inputs. Could you please let us know about the procedure YOU followed for flashing (or the pointers) along with the battery usage?
BTW :OT The Abyss 4.2 kernel is a battery drainer. do not update to it, if you are planning to. But it comes with a cool touch enabled CMW recovery. So is there any other kernel which comes with a touch enabled recovery for Note?
Hi Guys,
Good News. There was a new launcher (developed by young Chinese team) which was under development. The best part of this launcher is that it is a 3D launcher. Please find the
link for the site.
Just heard that it might be getting launched tonight.
P.S: The site is in Chinese so either select translate option or browse the entire site to get information in English. There is video on youtube showcasing the new browser.

The process i followed was very simple.
- Download Mobil Odin (
[09.02.2012] Mobile ODIN v2.15 [ROOT] - xda-developers)
- Download add on for Note (Go to post no 7 in the same page and download the N7000 APK for note.
- Download the Chinese leak rom (
[leak] [rom] ics 4.0 i9220zclp1 - xda-developers) - Use the chainfire fast mirror (4th highlighted block)
- Use Mobil odin, unpack the files and click install rom.
- Once installed your Note is on ICS.
At this point go to
[ROM] MIDNOTE 2.0 (ICS LP1 and ITALIAN QUALITY) **02/22/12** - xda-developers
Follow the instructions given for (coming from leaked ICS rom flashed from a tar file ONLY)
Install the ad ons available in the links in the above thread.
I am advicing you this method to ensure you dont have a problem. This is a round about method.
Easier way is to get the Note rooted, install a CWM based ROM and simple use CWM to upgrade to the Midnote2.0 Rom.
The above suggested method was followed by me as i installed the chinese leak on day 1 and hence it was easier for me.
Hope this helps.
The battery life is very good. I get 1.5 days with lots of wifi, 24hrs data etc. Previously i would say around 1 day. Half a day improvement.
But the UI improvement is very evident in this rom.

Thanks mate! Do you have the root? I am still on GB and looks like I can follow method 2 mentioned there, but not sure if will have the root. Any idea?

I would not say this is not possible. If you have a webcam which can transmit over 3G on a live streaming like Ustream and if you have a 3G connection on your mobile you can watch the live stream on your mobile.
