I do not think all of these are root only. I will add ScreenShot. While some vendors are packaging then as part of Gingerbread (no root) with most you have to get and install it. The good ones are all root only.
Here's My favorites:
1. Whatsapp
2. Gnotes
3. Dr Web Light
4. GPS Booster
5. Drag Racing
6. Greedy Spiders
7. Indian Rail
8. Mx Video Player
9. ROM Manager
10. Speed car
11. SWYPE
Apart from System ones [in some ROMS]
a. Gmail
b. Notes
c. Officesuite

I agree with you after reading this. The intention of posting it here was to clear the myth for some Android users who have recommended a fortnightly Wipe to improve battery life.

Forgot to add 3G watchdog.
Yup not all of them are root only...
Got OTA update on my Nexus S to 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and i really liked the new look and feel.
But there are problems too..
1. Google+ app force close - Sorted out by updating the app through Market
2. YouTube app force close - Cant able to play many videos as the app is force closing. In 2.3.6 Ginger Bread there was absolutely no problems at all for these videos.
3. Battery backup - Its a big concern now for me.
In 2.3.6 Ginger Bread my battery charging cycle was like this.
Connect the charger around 10-11 p.m every day and unplug it between 6-7 a.m then use it for the day. The battery used to have enough juice around 30% whenever i connect it back to the charger everyday around 10-11 p.m.
Now in 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich battery dies at on or before 10 p.m after the regular usage. My Battery charging pattern remains the same.
Positives Noticed:-
1. Inbuilt screen shot option
2. Inbuilt data usage monitor option
3. More easy to use Gmail, exchange, gallery viewing
4. Better Bluetooth transferring of files
5. Inbuilt Panorama shoot for pictures
6. Movie editor

Box packed SE Neo V is available around 15-15.5K on eBay with warranty. Its not made in India. Yes, HDMI cable is there with Neo V. Neo doesn't get HDMI cable in pack. Hope this helps. :thumbs up |
It helped to some extent. I did not check ebay. 15500 may be available with dealer warranty. I have never bought anything online. I may prefer flipkart or snapdeal but not sure about ebay.
Anyone purchased Sony Ericsson Android smartphone recently please clarify what is printed on box Made in What, just trying to be careful? If any Mumbaikar purchased recently Neo V or any other SE Xperia from Alpha, please inform the price difference compared to other authorised dealers.
There is an app on android for saving fuel costs & calculating mileage with indian rupees. Could someone tell me the best one or which one it is?

I have a Desire S (bought in UK - unbranded, unlocked) and the build version is 1.28.401.1, Adroid 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1. Read that there have been updates released in UK/Europe, but my phone is not catching any so far. Any thoughts? |

I'm facing the same problem. Find a VPN that is local to your purchase country and give it a try. Worked for me.
From a quick search you'll be able to find and download the legal firmware from one of the forums. You will lose connectivity to kies though. |
My phone caught the updates over the weekend, first it was build 1.47 and then 2.10 which has the 2.3.5 OS and Sense 3.0 versions. Had to install these separately and in sequence.

Try My Cars, it has currency options as well units customization too.
Thanks for the suggestions on some must-have apps guys, installed couple of them and found them pretty useful.
How can I add a folder to the gallery i.e. i've copied certain pics from the bluetooth folder on to a new folder and deleted those pics from the bluetooth folder but this other folder doesn't show up on gallery, tried playing around with folder options in Explorer app but no luck.
EDIT: Downloaded QuickPic for gallery, able to see every folder now, it has much better features than the regular gallery!
Guys, drag racing is back. The new update has a career mode with notoriously difficult bosses level 4 onwards.
You'll have to re tune your full spec tunes.
Earlier winning ones are just getting blown away.
Really cool.
Guys where to get the best price for the sony ericsson neo v and the galaxy r?
