Hi buddy, maybe firmware upgrade for your specific handset is not out yet.

try this-

x10 Flash 2.1 Final + Global World Firmware 2.1 - xda-developers

Which Android phone would be recommended on a budget of max 12k? I need a phone which will have business like features, but also be more future proof and expandable. I was looking at a Nokia E71, but its a bit long in the tooth and the camera isnt great (plus it only has a 2.5mm headphone jack).

My requirements for an Android phone are:
1. Runs smoothly
2. Good Call Quality and Signal Strength
3. Able to work on office documents
4. Good battery life
5. Should be reliable and not give problems
6. Budget max 12k
7. Divx playback would be a bonus
8. Camera should be decent
9. Sturdy build quality
10. Internet Access + Social Networking tools

Based on what I have read, the Samsung Galaxy 3 seems to be the best bet, except for the screen. But is the screen really so terrible? I am upgrading from a Sony Ericsson K750i.

What other sub 12k android phones would be recommended. Or should I go in the for E71?

Galaxy 3. Nothing beats it for the price!

^^^Why not Motorola Quench? Seems to have better specs than Galaxy 3, except for lack of auto-focus camera. Big plus would be the higher resolution screen.

Don't know how good it is in real though.

As for the Huawei, wasn't it supposed to launch in India for about 5,000 bucks? Or will that be a different model?

Android version is 1.5 cupcake, that is big put off.

The only reason that is putting me to hold my Galaxy 3 purchase is that no one seems to know - that will it be upgradable to Android 2.2 or Not. :(

Upgraded to 2.1 on Sony Xperia X10. Configuring it ever since...LOL

IIRC, it now comes preinstalled with 2.1. Remember reading that somewhere. 2.2 is probably not an option though.

I believe it will be. Remember reading that somewhere too. Also kinda remember seeing that mentioned on the tin, lol. But please confirm that, as I'd seen it several weeks ago, when it was released.

If you have rooted 1.6, just follow the xda-developers link to upgrade. I did upgrade to global 2.1 the day it got released. All you have to do is fool the SEUS to think that your mob belongs to Nordic (or global).

upgraded my x10 mini to 2.1 last night. only difference i find is that the phone has become a bit slow.

the phone would be slow for the first day, infact the first battery cycle. you will notice an improvement later. same happened with my X10.

i upgraded my bro's X10 mini pro today & surprisingly, there was no lag at all.

Any BHPian using Spice Mi-300? It has all the features of a budget Android phone. Comes preloaded with Android 2.1. and most importantly is priced at Rs. 9990 :Shockked:

I have not been able to check out the phone in person.. All Spice hotspots just have a dummy set. Basically i want to know about the screen responsiveness and actual build quality..
