Ok,

I have the Dell Streak, and I recently went from BB 318 to 351(15609) the OTA update that dell pushed.
Its official and unlocked phone that I have (not rooted, yet.)

After update I tried sideloading apps which I am used to since last 3 months or so.

But, to my surprise, they do not show up in Market>My apps! (for update and all)

Ok, so far I have tried the following solutions:
1. Clear Cache, Data in market (thr applications)
2. Uninstall Market 'update' (that sent me back to old market, but still no avail)
3. I flashed the 351 again, and did a factory reset (from phone menu as well as the recovery mode)!

All this done, and I am not able to see the apps listed in my apps> In Market!

When I go to Manage applications>All, there I can see my sideloaded apps, but just not in the Market > My apps!
driving me nuts!
By sideloaded I mean, loaded through SD card saved apks. (which are both freewares and paid ones)

I read, there is some policy change thats working up with google, or something, that may be the cause! (But, I dont know!)

Anyone here faced the issue, know a solution?

Let me rephrase what you wrote , After OTA firmware upgrade you still see the APK installed on SD card but the apps installed in internal memory are lost and you are unable to recover them.

Is the above statement correct ? If yes then probably what happened is that partition table of internal filesystem changed in the upgraded image resulting in loss of the data on internal filesystem. It seems Dell never anticipated this scenario and provided a built in solution which could have taken backup before firmware upgrade and restore after upgrade.

However you can look in the Android market for Backup and Restore solutions for the next time around.

No no.

My apps are all wiped out (which is fine, no problem)

Its after the update, I install apps again, from my SD card.
(Something similar to running setups after Windows format)

and even after that, I am unable to see the apps in Market>My Apps.
(I need them to show in Market, as I need them to update too! whenever one is available!)

though note: I can see the apps after I install, I can use them fine.
Also, I see the apps in Settings>Applications>All apps.

Is my problem clearer now?

P.S. I had taken a backup and all, but, it got messed up for some reason!

This is my first Android and the most expensive phone till date I'm upgrading from a 2 year old Nokia N86 8MP. The cramped keyboard should not be an issue for me since I dont text too much, but I've heard Swype should help us with the keyboard..So fingers crossed.. I have 'Played' (read Played Angry-Birds) the Moto Quench for some months and android is Great compared to Laggy, Freezy Symbian..
I was confused between the S2, Sensation and iPhone4. What tilted me to the S2 are the Screen (size, resolution, tech), Camera, bigger-battery, Fast browsing, DLNA etc. etc. This really seems like Jack-of-All

If you installed the apps from apk's stored on the sd card they wont show in your market list as they'll be classified as "outside sources".

only apps downloaded AND installed via the market show up in "my apps"

Now, the thing is that, before the upgrade from 318 to 351 BB,
I was able to see the apps installed from apks on SD cards!

so, I do know that, it is possible (as it was the case before.)

anybody can confirm what happens when you install any app from SD card (apk on SD card, rather than from market)
To be specific: Does the installed app show up in Market>My apps also?

Guys any good phone manager software for Samsung Galaxy Ace? I need one urgently.
The one which came with phone, Kies 2.0, has very few options. All it has is Music, Videos, Photos & Podcast. Nothing to manage SMS!!

i have moved to germany on saturday and the best thing helping me out here is the GPS on my dell XCD35. it fixes signal in 2-3 seconds even on just the gps chip. i dont have sim in my cell yet.

i walk around places and come back safely after the froyo update from dell i am getting battery life of 1.5 to 2 days now

Will try that in like 30 mins, (after I reach home.)
But, considering I have 'reflashed' and have done factory reset, wouldn't it fall in same line(?).
Nevertheless, its definitely a solution that I havent tried!

Hi all,

I am not a mobile programmer, but I like to use apps with customizations. I have wife's sony x10 mini to play with, and trying to do some programming to see if my next phone can be an android. Here is what I already do on my WM6.5 with mortscript, what should be the scripting language/environment I should be using?

1. script to call home with single touch even when phone is locked. (basically capture the keyboard event before the phone does, using another app)
2. one touch voice memo with phone locked.
3. operate music player with phone locked.
4. one click backup of personal data to encrypted folder and then unmount it.
5. interval shooting at user selectable interval and time with screen on or off.
6. sync mails every time I turn phone in daytime, after at least 2 hrs have elapsed since last sync.
7. one touch sync with pc, after turning on bluetooth.

Well,
I found out, I cannot just sign out, I have to remove account!
for which I need factory reset.
^^
Which I have already done.

Is there anything else, that I am missing?

Hows the battery life WITH GPS on continuously? My Ace is also on Froyo but when I use Sygic, it drains the battery in 2 hours!
