You can check if it has Gorilla Glass. If yes then protection may not even be needed.

S2 is no doubt good, but then, I am an HTC fan! Also the problems with production of SAMOLED uints is disturbing. What if something happens to the display. Will it get serviced?

As of now, better off with the Super Clear LCD. Might not be as brilliant to look but does the job!

Congrats on your buy! That's a brilliant phone indeed. Would you mind sharing a mini review covering the following points here.
  • Does the phone feel laggy when you multitask?
  • Does it heat up with constant usage for about 30 minutes or so?
  • How good is the battery life with moderate usage?
  • What's the size of the bundled memory that came with the phone? 8 Gigs or 16 Gigs.
  • If possible, the price you paid to get it home.

Thanks!

"My phone explorer", I have not tried it, but seems it's quite nice.

I use Total Recall and that's the only thing that works for me. ( I have optimus one too )

Did you try the N-Drive that comes along? You need gps for it to work. There is a one time download which is quite bulky, but after that it doesn't need gprs. Apart from that I have read about sygic maps and brut maps though never tried them.

I had almost made up my mind on it and just then HT have announced the Sensation! Now am again in wait mode for that one to come! This is my story since last nov when I started dreaming of the Nexus S! Since then have deliberated between Nexus S, Galaxy S, S2, Incredible S (what an incredulous name!), Desire S, Xperia Arc (almost settled on it) and now Sensation!
Yep. It's a beautiful phone indeed. I was in the same boat as you since Nov/Dec. I just couldn't decide on one. Galaxy had no camera flash, desire hd had an okay screen and battery issues etc. Then the next wave came in, and this one perfectly fit the bill.
All the best for your Droid. The sensation/pyramid looks great, although I feel it would be very steeply priced.

Sorry, i forgot to mention its for rooted phones. Without that its not possible since it needs superuser permission to make changes to OS. Since this is phone specific and not browser/game specific.

its not a bad idea to root a phone though. Gives you all the rights to do whatever you want. Basically a free bird.

I have never faced this issue, initially I was skeptical to turn on the auto kill but ever since I have, its been ok. No problems, even added some apps like SMS-Lock and some widgets to ignore list. Works flawlessly.

I just switch off my data connection. Workes on non-rooted phones as well.

Looking forward to rooting once I get a little more familier with the apps/permissions etc.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

People, I quickly need an Android at a budget, and am currently torn between the Samsung Galaxy Fit, and the LG P500. I also like the Samsung B7722 DUOS.

Can you please help me find the one that will last me for the next couple of years, without too many problems? My budget is MAX 15000. My original set of requirements are:

3G, 3MP+ Camera, Apps, Touchscreen, A-GPS, Reliable, Low SAR.

Any feedback on the B7722 DUOS would be good to know.

You can check out the comparo here: Compare LG Optimus One P500 vs Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670

Personally, I don't think there is a need to stretch till 15k. The features will pretty much remain the same save for a few ghz of boost in processor. When I was in the market for a budget android, the fit wasn't launched yet, and the P500 was going for something like 13/14k, so I went ahead with Ace @ 15k.

If I were in the market today, I would bet my money on Fit/P500. Both offer amazing value.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Got my Incredible S yesterday! Haven't explored much, but i must say HTC Sense is really nice. It looks and works better that what i had seen in all those reviews. My colleague's Nexus One looks like a Plain Jane without all those bells and whistles from HTC Sense. From outside this looks like a brick , but you must switch it on to appreciate this.

In HTC Sense, liked the multiple scene mode with pre-configured home screens, also the different skins. One thing that puts me off with most vanilla androids is the generous amounts of gray splashed around. So skins is a welcome feature.

Haven't explored other features much. But so far i like this.

Thats a superb device SilentEngine. I would have got this device instead of my Desire HD had it been available in Feb. Have fun!
