5X is a brilliant phone. Since you can afford the Priv, why not consider the Nexus 6P? 6P is a beast with 3GB of RAM and more processing power.

If your friend can buy the Nexus 5x on a project fi connection, he can get a discount on activation. That'll save you some cash.

Avoid the Priv. Nexus 5X 32 gigs at usd 290 looks like a steal considering that it costs 30K here in apna desh. I've been using the same since launch and the phone rocks. The 2GB is enough with stock Android or other decent custom roms and the camera is great as well. Negatives are the lack of Micro SD support, bad battery backup and type C cable (not from a charging perspective but from availability of chargers perspective) .

I suppose Xiaomi phones will be a boon for a user like you. There is an option to lock an app in the RAM. If you lock an app and then click close all, the locked app does not close.

Hope my understanding is correct.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Got the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge+ as a replacement to my LG G3. Went have a look at the LG G5, but ended up with the Samsung. Even though the LG got the detachable battery module, overall the phone looked quite underwhelming compared to the G3 and G4.

Likes:
  • Premium feel with those beautiful curved edges.
  • Super crisp screen
  • Great camera, works well in low light

Dislikes:
  • Way too many Samsung apps!
  • The interface looks a bit complicated compared to the LG G3.
  • Photos looked a bit over-processed.

If you are asking about converting SD card into Internal Memory (feature provided by Marshmallow), then to my knowledge, Samsung doesn't allow that in touchwiz. But, I guess, you are still able to set the app specific storage as SD card in App settings.

It's a hell of a phone, congrats. Does the camera really work that well in low light like they have shown in their advert?

It's really not such a great thing to do. Read up about it and think twice!

What are the steps to do that? I have a Redmi 1s lying around with a broken screen and I would try out the feature to see if its effective.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have been using LYF Flame 2 with Reliance Jio since Sunday - mainly as a hotspot.

For Rs. 3499, I think the phone is not bad at all, even without the unlimited data/ voice - 3 months offer.

The only negative I can see is the weak battery. (not touched the camera yet - but I don't expect it to be good).

The phone is quite responsive and manages well within 1 GB of RAM.

The hotspot connection has been very stable for me!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Honor 8 is launched with very good specs and meets all my requirements - Display<=5.2", RAM >=3GB, Fingerprint sensor, 4G connectivity, good camera and battery life (fast charging also).

It seems it has the same dual camera setup as the P9 which is a big advantage compared to competitors like MI5/Oneplus etc.
It is basically a cheaper P9 which is good (considering P9 is positioned against the topmost flagships like S7)
I will most probably buy it when it launches in India.
The only disadvantage is the weaker GPU but I am no gamer.so that's not an issue for me.

Also, the link below is from GSMArena phone finder which captures my requirements. I find it very useful to shortlist phones.

http://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3...2600&s4Gs=3,40

Sadly, not many out here which are <=25K and available in India.
Hoping some of these phones will be available in India in the coming 2-3 months along with the new Nexus.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Some icons on the notification bar of my Moto X Style have inverted. It is only on Home screen and app drawer screen. If I use any app (even if I open settings), it becomes normal. It is quite an eyesore.

Everything else is perfectly normal.

Any suggestions how to fix it?

Are you using a Launcher by any chance? I use Nova and it has an option for dark icons that has the exact effect you mention.
