Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Experts,

I had got my wife a Lenovo A 6000 through the Flipkart flash sale a week back and the phone was delivered two days back. Any one on the forum uses the phone? Have seen a strange problem, the phone heats when charging but once charging is done, it cools down pretty fast. Tried to charge through Laptop, same observations. Any idea what causes it to heat up during charging? Once charged during the normal conversations, the phone does not heat up. Checked for reviews on Flipkart and no one till date has observed this behaviour.

Worrying indeed. Thankfully he doesn't drive.

While I haven't owned it, have had good experience with it. Especially someone who is used to stylus, keeps coming back or staying put with Note Series.

At least 10 guys I know who have gone from Note 2>Note 3>Note4/Edge. And one even sold his Note 4, for the Edge. Good battery life and not much issue either (specific to Note 3, not Neo)

I haven't even seen the other option so can't comment on it.

I've a Lenovo P780 for more than a year, it heats up, not to the extent of untouchable or so, but yes, there's a heat (like Sony or any other mobile when charged). Same case with Lenovo S660 as well, there's a mild heat observed during a normal Android phone when charged.

Guys, any one tried WhatsApp voice calling? Much better than Skype - clear sound and no lag. I am loving it

I didn't know it existed! Will look into that for keeping in touch on my UK trip this summer.

@Thad - if you do not have it already, check for your WhatsApp version. All versions above 2.12.5 (2.11.561 also may work). If not, update your WhatsApp to the latest (either from Google play or from WhatsApp website).

Once it is done, ask some one who already have WhatsApp call enabled to give a call to your WhatsApp - then you will get the feature enabled.

I think Android version is calling shots as well. My phone got updated, but not wife's Core 2 having 4.4.2.

Tried to search for updates, but it has no updates.

Inviting new users for call feature is not working as of now. I can call others but they are not seeing the new screen or be able to call back

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I updated. I'll ask my step-daughter-in-law: she is pretty hot on mobile and social apps.

If not... it'll be back to forum friends

I'm not in a hurry: my trip is not until July!

When I get to UK, I'll install Whatsapp on my tablet, with a UK sim, and then migrate that to an Indian number when I get back, rather than keeping it on the phone.

Sheel, the APKs are available in many websites. You can also try going to the WhatsApp site and update the APK.

I manually updated my Moto G and my wife's Moto E and we both have got the calling facility few days back.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Good news for Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact owners. The Lollipop update (5.0.2) has begun and happening in phases. I'm yet to get mine. Owners of the Z2 are next in line. Here's a brief preview video of the update on the Z3, courtesy xperiablog.net.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My ex-phone the MotoG2 was updated from kit kat to Lolipop in January and I did not find the change very gratifying.

Now using a 1+1 64Gb Sandstone on Kit Kat and loving it, with nary an update in sight.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys am planning to buy a HTC one M8 from Hong Kong. After conversion it would cost me around Rs. 28k which is almost 10k cheaper from the price in India. Just wanted to know if is it safe to buy the phone from there? Any thing I should look out for? Why I am asking is because recently I bought an Ipad from Dubai and later got to know that all middle east apple products do not support facetime due to the laws there.

Just sharing my personal experience - I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE in India, faced problems with 4G connectivity, complained to Samsung, their Service Centre collected the device from my home, tested it and found the device faulty and returned it to me with a DOA (dead-on-arrival) certificate.
I returned the device to the dealer along with the DOA certificate and got a brand-new S5 as replacement, all within 4 - 5 days.
Unbelievable customer support by Samsung, I am a Samsung customer for life!
The point I am trying to make is that the 'extra' 10k that you pay in India guarantees you peace of mind.
This is purely my point of view and others may have another perspective!
