use nLITE and strip down the XP installation. End result would be a fast and lean operating system.

If you are easy with the linux, I dont see a reason to strip it down. with proper Application settings, Linux can be pretty fast. But yes, Do make sure its Ubuntu.

@harry : the new dell is xps is not the studio 13. The New XPS will debut soon. The warranty on the Dell brought from abroad can always be transferred to an Indian warranty as per the Dell policy.

Elaborate more on warranty cos as far as i know its not transferred and you need to buy international one.

I have a question about my laptop.

I've been trying to hook up the laptop to my TV so that I could watch movies online. My TV is a Toshiba 56" ( 1080p..etc etc..).Its hooked to a Panasonic home theater system. My laptop is a HP dv4 Pavillion. Its just 3 months old.I tried using a HDMI cable to hook the laptop to the TV. I was able to watch a movie for 4-5 minutes,after which I lost audio but the video stayed right on.
I tried this with different movies,but its the same no matter what. I uninstalled the speaker drivers (and ended up having to get HP to re-install everything ).

Is there any setting that I'm missing? Has anyone else experienced this?

my bad. I thought you talking about the studio 13. Yep that's the one with leather accents.



@nitin : Try bypassing the amp and let us know if it works. HDMI standards compatibility is a very widely known issue. I have mostly heard of panasonic Displays or components having the issue though seconded by Samsung.

no - no application, just the feeling in my palm (my Latitude doesnt get this warm even after a days 8hr run - my both acer does get warm - may be the lack of A/c in home??)

• 256mb Nvidia NVS 160 graphics
• 9 cell battery
• 160gb 7200rpm drive with free fall sensor

and the rest is the same as any laptop i guess.No webcam and fingerprint reader though.

My choices are limited towards the HP Elitebook , Thinkpad T series and the Dell Latitude E series. Looking for a long lasting business laptop basically but with a wee bit of potential to handle Autocad and Director.

I tried a direct connection from the laptop to the TV.I didn't try connecting the laptop to the home theater system,as I have just 1 HDMI port in the receiver/player.

I would've chosen a Thinkpad anyday. But I am not sure if they still carry that charm of quality and ergonomics anymore. Otherwise Dell latitude is an excellent buy.

Can anyone provide the review of HP tx2z?Is it good or the Dell Studio is better .

Take the RAM out and power it up. If you see the display then the RAM is busted

Hope you aren't going to use it for any graphic intensive application or gaming !!

How is Dell Inspiron 1525 ? Anyone using that ?
