gaming systems are usually high end so be sure that what you buy is future compatible. Nvidia 8K series and ati 2K series are a must (they are dx10 supported)along with a 64-bit dual core cpu. Newer games do make use of these technologies.

hi
do u really think i should wait?Because even if they launch something great it would be really expensive and i may get a new xps in about 150000.
Would the XPS-M1710 last me comfortably for 5-6 years? And would i get dell support for it since its not launched here? Can u guys suggest any more models?

This is a tough one.

Windows vista is going to last a while. DX10 is specially being developed for vista too. In this case better go for a more compatible system than a value for money system that wont play anything after a while.

Dell is pretty good at support. Dont expect warranty though.

Suggest a laptop Under 65k max Dell or hp ? - how much does macbook cost's ?

for 65K I would recommend HP Pavilion range. For prices on Macbook check out apple India website. the 13 incher is the bestseller but 15.4 incher is better overall.

Under 65K I would suggest Dell XPS M1330.

For A Sony Vaio purchased in India what is the servicing / repairs like ?

My friends budget is around 1-1.15 and he is set on either Apple Mavbook or Sony Vaio. There is no specific reason he needs it for, basically just wants to burn money :p

Some one told him that Sony does not service machine's locally and it take 2 - 3 months for repairs. I find that hard to believe.

Hi,

I am planning to sell my Acer 4021 NWLCI for 20K. If anyone interested please send me a message. Config is as follows.

1.6 mhz Intel Centrino
60gb HDD
256 MB DDR2 Ram
CD R/RW DVD Combo Drive
15.4 wide screen
Wireless Lan 802.11 b/g

Computer is in excellent condition.

Hey Gadget Gurus

I am looking for a new branded laptop, that has the following minimum stuff:
1.8 GHz Dual Core (AMD preferred over Intel)
2 GB Ram
120 GB Hard Disk
At least 128MB dedicated video card
14" screen would be nice.

Budget 60K max (including OS)

Not very keen on HP right now, but still I am willing to be convinced if someone has the right arguments for HP.

Any suggestions?

Yeah kind of. For example, there are two HP models. One with 1.5GHz Intel dual core and 2GB RAM, and the other with 1.8GHz AMD Dual Core with 1 GB RAM. The price diff is nearly 10K, with AMD one being cheaper. Upgrading to 2GB would cost me 3000/-

The only disadvantage with the AMD model is that its video card does not have any dedicated memory, whereas the intel model has 128MB dedicated memory.

Plus, i have a soft corner for AMDs

Recently LG launched a 19" inch widescreen laptop. Is it available in the market now?

Does any other company have a 19" screen available?

Hi ,

I have recently bought Dell Inspiron 6400 notebook with the following specs :

Intel Core duo processor (T2450) 2 GHz, 2 MB Cache 533 MHz FSB
1 GB (2X512) 667 MHz dual channel DDR2 SDRAM
120 GB hard disk
15.4" widescreen XGA TFT display with tru-life
DVD/R/W combination drive with dual layer write capablilites
Roxio creator
Windows vista basic
Intel Media accelerator 950

The notebook costed me INR 41K from Singapore. The performance is great. I suggest you look at this machine as well as other offerings from Dell (the new Inspiron series). SHould cost around INR 50K in India.

Ash, is 1GB RAM enough for Vista? I read somewhere that 2 GB is required for Vista to run "comfortably".

Also, does anyone know what is the difference between Intel Pentium Dual Core and Intel Core 2 Duo processors?

And, last but not the least, how good is the NVidia GeForce 7150M video adapter compared to the 8400M version?

Seems its not a very popular thread anymore!!

Anyway, i am thinking of finalising on a Lenovo laptop, with the following specs:
Intel Core2 Duo 1.8GHz T7100
2 GB RAM
160GB Hard Disk
14.1" screen
.... and the works.

All for about 62K/-

Now the retailer is saying that its a new model, belongs to the lenovo Y500 45Q series. I searched and searched but couldnt find anything about this model. Does anyone else know anything about this model?

Cheers
Amitoj

What's the word on Acers? They seem to be offering fantastic deals recently. I'm thinking about picking up the ultra-portable 12.1" screen model which is selling for around 45K with a dual core, 1GB ram, 160GB HDD and (i think) a DVD burner.

Is there a catch to this? Just seems too good!!
