This should not be a deal breaker. There is hardly a difference in performance between the two cards, especially so for the laptop chipsets.

Need suggestions for a gaming-able laptop. What would be the next better ones up from Lenovo Legion Y520 ?

How are the HP gaming laptops ?

HP Pavillion CC134 TX
or the Dell Inspiron 15 5570 with i7 8th gen ?

I love the HP Omen series. They look pretty good, relatively light weight and pretty solid. The Lenovo legion is pretty good too. The Dell 5000 series gaming cannot compete with these for sure.

Acer Nitro 5 Core i7 7th Gen - (8 GB/1 TB HDD/Windows 10 Home/2 GB Graphics) AN515-51 Gaming Laptop

Haven't seen better specs and vfm than this gaming laptop till now. Only thing is it needs an SSD which you can upgrade later on your own. Other than that worth every rupee.

How will an SSD be fitted? Is there an existing slot for it? If I get an SSD fitted, will it void the warranty?

Also how much will 256 GB SSD cost?

Warranty is usually not void if you add RAM or HDD/SSD. This model will either come with 128 GB SSD already (In NVMe Slot) or you can add one later.

Specs do show 128 GB SSD. 256 GB would cost around 5 - 6k. IN addition to SSD, you can also upgrade RAM to 16 GB.

The Indian one doesn't seem to have 128 SSD - https://www.flipkart.com/acer-nitro-...oduct.share.pp

There are two kind of SSDs. One can simply replace existing HDD and another has slot of its own (NVMe). This laptop should have NVMe slot (Since some versions do have 128 GB SSD).

Check prices on Amazon. Local Mumbai prices would be ~10% better than Amazon's.

Thank you. Do you know where in Bombay (preferably eastern suburbs) can I buy this laptop & also get the SSD etc fitted?

If you are going to exchange any old laptop / desktop, do try Croma.

They have a version that already has SSD + additional RAM. Check other models.

You should be able to get a discount of 5k + exchange.

If it helps here is the complete spec in Acer site https://www.acer.com/datasheets/2017/4876/AN515-51/NH.Q2SSI.007.html.

This is similar to AN515-51-79DZ NH.Q2QAA.007

LAPTOP 79DZ variant has SSD based on SATA. Acer community thread on An515-51 , states .m2 slot based on SATA interface and not (NVMe). The community post also states laptop can be upgrade to 512GB .m2 SSD.

While community doesn't talks specially about the same model, since its a family of same products one should assume it should be possible.

Usually opening back panel (to access memory slot) will also give you access to SSD slot.

If you specify your budget, and the games you intend to play, it would make it easier to suggest :)

Meanwhile, here's a quick comparison on specifications of budget gaming laptops in India - https://www.gadgetriq.com/best-budget-gaming-laptops/

Cheers

Hi Folks,

Looking for a laptop for home use. I'm not intended to play any heavy games and mostly using it for browsing, PPTs, Docs, Kids school works. Also, use for watching HD movies on YouTube/Amazon prime etc. Spec I'm looking for is

- CoreI3 and above (Preferably 8th Gen)
- HD display with touch
- 4GB or higher RAM
- 1TB storage
- Not keen on Graphics card as not a gaming freak assuming Intel integrated graphics will do the job. Please suggest if I need card even to plan high resolution movie streaming on HDMI port.
- Convertible if possible

I came across below one from HP which meets all the criteria

HP Pavilion x360 - 14-cd0050tx
https://www.hpshopping.in/catalog/pr...050tx-4lr35pa/

With the price tag of ~57K, I feel I'm paying extra for Nvidia GPU and MS Office. I already have MS Office licensed version which I can continue using. Do you folks see any other option fitting in around 50K budget?

Regards
SE

This laptop should be good enough for the usage you described. Since it has dedicated graphics, 2 - 3 GB of actual RAM should be available for applications.

It also has Touch screen + pen. Do you need that ? If not, you can bring cost down by !6k by looking at other model that have the same CPU.

How does this compare with the Nitro?

It already has 128GB SSD.

Looks good in terms of config. Only issue I see, is lack of additional RAM slots. If you want to upgrade RAM to 16 GB, you will have to remove existing 8 GB stick.
