My daughter is on the lookout for a replacement for her ageing Toshiba M-series. Must be at least i5 and 14" Screen. She will be keen for a Toshiba since the unit over 5-6 years has been near flawless. Need not be Toshiba though.

Sir may I suggest Dell Latitude 14 7000 series (e-7470).

I am using 14" latitude since last 3-1/2 years and I can swear on it's durability and performance. Flawless business class notebook with excellent Dell after sales support and upto 4 years warranty.

Regards.

+1 to the recommendation by mroptimist. Has a rugged metal body with matt finish (Have seen Matt black most commonly) and fantastic build quality.

So keep that in mind when you are checking, but post upgrade it would speed up a lot.

The retina models are all locked in, in terms of post purchase upgrades, especially the storage.

After months of discussions and confusions and prices have decided to go ahead with rMBP 13.3" 8GB 128GB SSD. The non retina model in Australia is only $220 cheaper than rMBP. And i personally dont see a point saving $220 and going for a older gen MBP as this is my 1st Mac and i plan to use it for years to come.

Amazon india offer of non retina is worth it. But unfortunately no such offers going on here. At max some shops are happy to take 10% off. But still compromising on a lot of things.

Hopefully early next week i plan to go ahead with my purchase.

Thanks a lot for everyones inputs.

Much appreciated

1. Upgrade to IE11 if possible

2. Disable any unwanted addons and remove any toolbars

3. Test it with Anti Virus disabled

you need to shrink C and then create portions on the recovered space.

@rkg; Partition pronto. I will suggest you dispense with the very basic partition manager in Windows an you can try EaseUS or MiniTool, both freebies and pretty good. I do not keep any work stuff in C. Even 100-200GB in C (most people recommend about 80-100GB) is more than adequate. I have two additional partitions F: for work and G: for saved files etc. You may consider OneKeyRecovery as a big convenience.

The most bang for the buck i found was the asus zenbook pro. 4k display, 512gb ssd,15 inch display, quad core i7.
I ended up picking up the macbook pro retina 15 inch though.

For the ones interested in 2015 MacBook, Amazon has a lightning deal on the 256 GB version. Available for Rs. 75,999/-. Here's the link to: Apple MacBook MF855HN/A 12-inch Retina Display Laptop (Intel Core M/8GB/256GB/OS X Yosemite/Intel HD Graphics 5300), Silver

I'm not happy with the Asus Laptops. In past my 2 Laptops dies within weeks after expiry of Warranty.

Finally opted for Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Model with 16 Gb, 4G Graphics, 128Gb SSD + 1 TB HDD, 4K Display.

@micrographics; Almost sounds like Asus had a time fuse inside! I think one can accept that their quality may not be as durable as the others.

Over the years I have had issues with HP, Compaq, Lenovo, but did not have any problems with my Asus.

On the look out for a 13" laptop for my wife. It would mainly be used for her school work and she would also be carrying the same to her school somethings.
Any recommendations?

@Abeer; My daughter-in-law has a Lenovo Yoga 13 for the past two years, and they are delighted with it. batter life is also good, so she can use in the hospital for the full day.

I am looking for a laptop to be used mainly for Autocad and other Architecture related applications. The config I am looking at is :
Core i5 (6th gen)
8 GB RAM
1TB HDD
15" screen
and preloaded Windows.
Have shortlisted HP15-ab516TX which is available for 52k at the HP store.
Is it a good choice? Also the difference between online and shop is hardly 1-2k . So prefer buying it from store.
