go for a sony vio.. it's lite ,slim ,and easy to use and have all the function's u want the new series...

furioussphinx- Ask yourself if that laptop will run windows vista which is the next OS from microsoft? No. At this point if u desperately need to buy a laptop then look at a turion cpu. You can have a turion 2.2ghz at that same price.

If you can wait then Intel merom and AMD AM2 mobile cpus are going to be the next best thing and they are coming out this July. Dual-core, 65nm, 64-nit capacity, hypertransport and much more.

iruelee- Alienwares are not fat. That's based on which laptop your friend owns. Alienwares look cool.

agree with you on apple and sony ax though I would look at averatec 4100. Turion 1.8, 512mb ram, 80gig, 13.3" xga, dvd riter, wireless, milky white for $800 or less. you can have two at the price of that sony.

@ devarshi84 Yea i can wait it aint such an urgency... may buy one only in the month of September just dont wanna make any final minute wrong decisions..u know.....

@ Fuelled , if not the NVIDIA 7400 then which one? 7200 rpm...will keep that in mind.....Yes, it does have Wifi, just forgot to mention it, sorry! ..... And yes it was quite bulky and heavy but as far as i came to know the light ones dont have any good configs, the extreme machines are way too heavy

devarshi84 - yeah you are right he does have an old one but still alienwares are awesome machines look super hot BUT ARE OVER PRICED and just for more information i just realized that Dell has taken over alienware so there may be some issues as dell has not settled itself correctly in India yet.

Lenovo are gud but too expensive.....Sony is good in all aspects but not the best....IBM has best performance but too expensive (Lenovo).....Alienware has amazing gaming power and no it isnt expensive (nice price).

you need to check www.alienware.com again. I am getting a cetrino 15.4 wsxga with nvidia 6600 128mb with graphics change switch for close to $1100. doesnt seem expensive to me. And anyways alienwares were never good in availability in India. they are a small boutique laptops manufacturing firm. Dell has bought alienware to get a hand at AMD in gaming indirectly.lol:

Then wait for Amd AM2 and intel merom to come out.

nvidia 7400 is a premium low end card supersizing 7300. Nvidia 7600 is something you should be looking at. turbocache for lower cards is shared with Ram and you wouldnt wanna share your RAM. Same goes in ATI with hypermemory. Stay away from anything below x1600.

look at msi-1039. comes with turion 2.2 ghz and ati x1600. 15.4 wsxga glossy screen is available and so it bluetooth.

also look at acer ferrari 4006wlmi if budget is not an issue. Retails around $1700-1800US

In 17" samsung x50 with centrino and nvidia 6600 is pretty lightweight and well equipped. Another lightweight is twinhead 17k which comes with the turion tech and nvidia 6600. last one at budget would be averatec with turion again and xpress 200m to go with it. All these 17inchers are one of the lightest notebooks to lug around.

Why not turion? look at the acer aspire 5002wlmi. Got turion 1.6 with 512 mb Ram and 80gig hdd along with a dvd-rw.

here in Canada the price for the acer is $700.I would recommend a turion due to its delicious prices.

here the acer aspire 5032 retails at 48750 ? whats your catch on that. i think thats the minimum in thurion dont mind any brand gimme offers please

Hmmm, thats a hefty price. you can also look at the turion laptop from sahara computers. I believe its basically an MSI.

thts the point too high lets see if my trip to south east asia is confirmed ill go there and pick it up. useless indian taxes are annoying me now

Hey Devarshi....
Check this out. Initial review of Turion x2. It falls flat on most of the cases in front of codre duo...

Point 1. Did u check the prices? Turion x2 are much cheaper than Core duo.

Turion 64 X2 TL-60 $354
Turion 64 X2 TL-56 $263
Turion 64 X2 TL-52 $220
Turion 64 X2 TL-50 $184

point 2. Are the core duo cpu's 64-bit? coz windoes vista's most versions are.:)

point3. Preproduction turion X2 are used in this review. So I will wait for TG and Anandtech to come up with more valid reviews before commenting. X2 may loose out clock to clock against core duo. But for the price X2 will beat core duo coz you can have a faster cpu.

I am not against intel. their merom architecture is something I myself am looking forward to. But at present I will buy amd turion/x2 only unless Intel merom and AMD AM2/taylor are out.

Hey, chill... never said that u are. Infact it’s me, who have some vested interest in intel. This is not the continuation of the argument we had earlier. I just came across this info and passed it on here. Believe its that innocent... ;)
