hi friends

having this peculiar problem with my sony net book over past month. Every time i switch on the same after a small time of usage the entire screen turns blue and gives a message which mentions some kind of memory problem.

I have given the same three times to the sony service centre at gamdevi mumbai and after keeping the same for differant time periods they return it saying the same is fixed, but the same problem arises.

In fact after the last time it was returned the comp just does not start also. Am really fed up. Does any know someone at sony /or some other place I can lodge a stong complaint.

What you are facing is the infamous BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. (BSOD)

It may be a result of any hardware or software glitch. Did you install any software after which the problem started.

It may also be due to the failure of ram.

I had a similar problem with a desktop, which was due to a faulty sata hard disk cable.

There are too many probables to list. The service center is your best bet.

An OS re-install works sometimes. Worth a try, especially if you want to save all those bucks.

Guys need help on the following in chennai

1) Need a laptop that costs less than 30k
2) Need a USB based wireless broad band connection

Laptop will be used for processing excel sheets, internet browsing & movies occasionally

Needs to have 14+ inches screen size, 4 hrs battery back up & might be rough used by kids occasionally

Net might be used from primarily in the evening on week days & day time during holidays

I am currently using a Celeron based Acer laptop for the last 4 years without a hitch, hence open to entry level Acer or Lenovo laptops

I have hear that Reliance is the best in wireless USB data card based connectivity, but have had issues with other reliance products in the past, so looking at other providers as well

So in short:

1) Best laptop less than 30k & best place to buy in chennai
2) Best USB data card Based Connection for light to medium usage

I would suggest you to look at Acer Aspire 4740i3 retails around 30K. It has 3GB RAM, 320 GB HDD and 14.1" HD screen. I personally bought a laptop six years ago at Delta peripherals, Ritchie steet. I still recommend this shop. You need to bargain harder to get a good price. Their price list is available at : http://www.deltapage.com/laptop.pdf

BSNL 3G? In bangalore, I get speed around 1-2 MBPS constantly. Inquire with others before you buy.

BSNL EVDO - supposed to deliver 2.4 Mbps at most locations in city. Check the website.

Will Doom 3 work on Windows-7 on a Sony Vaio E series laptop?
Particularly on model EB26FG?

Absolutely. The minimum specs are far lower than what you have on your Lappy.

Hehe! I am hopefully buying one this week, will let you know by next week. ;)

If gaming is what you seek, there is a DV6 offering slightly more at a slightly lower price.

Looks absolutely ugly though!

Call dell business directly. You will get the best prices directly from source for this quantity.

Guys, need reviews on MSI X340. How is it holding up? Cannot beat the 23K price. Felt the keypad was not good, quite flimsy.

Battery is only 4cell, will it last atleast 3-4 hours? Apart from that, all looks good. Hows the service support in India?

Guys,

Can anyone help me out if you have an experience with the below netbook of Gateway ? (LT 21) I am considering the same,

Gateway India Official Site: Products - Notebooks - LT21

My basic uses of a netbook would be for browsing the net, email, occasional use of XL sheets. I would like to keep the cost to the bare minimum !

Please do suggest me a netbook with a 2 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD configuration which you have used & find suitable ?

The intention was that when you go for Lenovo, better go for the T series. The other lower end versions from Lenovo are not that good and you are right that Dell low end machines are much better. But for the high end ones, I'd say the Lenovo T series to be the ultimate buy. I own both XPS and a R-61 Lenovo and I find my Lenovo R61 give be better performance than the XPS with the fact that both have the same configuration. To tell you what the Lenovo machine is rugged. Unnoticed many times, my daughter sits on it, jumps on it and nothing has ever happened. If R series itself would be so rugged, then T series which is the top end should be even more better.

+1 to that. I have been Thinkpad user for the last six years, x40 and then x61. The T and X series come with rugged cases, but at a price. My ones cost 1 lac each time. The T series are excellent machines but cost a bomb, and are comparable to the Dell Mobile Workstation lines.
